Well if said trade includes TK and/or Sanheim are you not creating another hole?

Can you elaborate what you mean by players like this?
- hello it's me 2050

I don’t know what he means but to me it means just a “loser” mentality. Not a team guy. Not a leader. Similar to Bryce Harper. For years played with great pitching staffs in Washington very good offense but he was the face of that franchise & always came up short. The first year he “a top 20 player” in the MlB leaves and they win the world series & the Phillies hve underperformed. It’s more than ironic. I believe Eichel has the same type of dna nake up. Extremely talented. But not a leader not a winner. Always someone elses fault or something else.

No way package of Myers..Patrick and 1st gets Jones. You are giving up a Dman who had a terrible year...a forward who was maybe the worst forward in the NHL last year..and an unproven 1st rd pick...Going to cost you a proven quality NHL player like TK to start the package
- hfc355

Then I throw in TK. I like him, but he’s been terrible since they’ve come back from the pause.

He is still a young kid. He can easily mature over time. I just wouldnt be in any rush to make him captain.

I’d trade Sanheim and TK for Jones. I’ll drive them both to Columbus.

A 25 year who has been in Buffalo for x amount of years and is tired of losing. One who it seems wants to win and wants out? Yeah hate those quitter types. Rather have the ones who are comfortable accepting losing.

I applaud him for wanting to get away from that poop show

I’ve got news for you. The amount of teams Jones will sign an extension with is small by all accounts. That already affects the return for Columbus. Factor in that it is now public knowledge he prefers not to sign an extension and what exactly do you think they are getting?

News to you it’s more than Myers Frost and first, as much as flyers fans would like to think , Frost isn’t worth much at all, he’s a guy who hasn’t even carved out a spot on the team in 3+ years and coming off a major injury.

I would not take the bet that the Flyers can contend, is there a small chance? Yes. Any playoff team can catch lighting in the bottle and make a run.

Keeping in mind Vegas and Tampa will have to look different next year. They played the cap the best you can play it and there will be a price. Other teams beyond them are looking for answers similar to the Flyers. The only team I think has the edge going in is the Av's, but even they have their cap challenges coming. I actually think the competition might level out a little next season. All teams faced with adding the right pieces and the cap.

It would take a perfect storm which is highly unlikely for sure. Make moves that consider the future as well as the present, just good hockey trades. Don't try to solve all the problems before the season. If they are a solid playoff team come the trade deadline, add, if not, sell and reset.

Selling a Sanheim to get a Jones, make him part of that package. Selling a Sanheim to make room for a similar, maybe a little better FA who is older with no upside, pass. You can't solve one problem and not have a solution for the new one created, is no bueno.

A Miles Wood is a player type the Flyers could use. Speed to spare, gritty and can put up some points. Hell I would at least see what NJ wanted for him. He is similar to Coleman with more O, size, younger. Maroon on a 1 year deal I would be ok with, unless someone in camp is that much better or is close and needs the spot.

Seems location means a lot to FA's, meaning West Coast likes to stay on the west etc. Especially when the players are older with a family

There is no question that the Flyers can make moves to improve as a team. Hell that's bound to happen even if they do little. Again, to what end? Most of the moves being reported and discussed, the most likely outcome is that the Flyers will be agood team that is not good enough and is cap strapped lacking cap flexibility. If the Flyers are smart, they look to add true difference makers or the opposite end. Short term vet stop gaps. Noting in the middle. No more Kevin Hayes type deal.

I discussed this in an earlier thread.

Hamilton was traded from Boston because they couldnt work out a contract

Flames traded him due to personality fit. It seems they werent fond of hos "Introvert" behaviour. Going to museum alone instead of going to dinner with the team ect

In CAR he is choosing to move on. He's a UFA the team has no reason to allow him to speak with other teams ahead of time. It feels like something they worked out together to be mutually benefitial.

Aside from the Flames situation I havent heard anything bad about Dougie Hamilton. Everyone says he's a nice guy and shy person.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

I don't agree with what you state in Carolina. He wants to re-sign there. Carolina just doesn't want to pay him what he's asking for. I think Carolina is playing it like see what's out there and then come back to us and we'll see what we can do.

No one wants to loose.

Certain players just don’t know how to win when it matters. Eichel is a good example. Great talent. Anywhere he goes he is going to be “the guy” & for a team to be successful you need “the guy” to be your big time player & I don’t see it in him.

Like I said similar to Bryce Harper he leaves the team gets taken over by a teenager & they win the whole thing.

Blake Griffin was face of the clippers & chris paul wasn’t good enough. Chris paul looks pretty good now.

Sometimes certain players can’t handle being “the guy”.

I hear you, but we’re talking like losing Frost or TK or Sanheim is the end of the world. They are alright, but not untouchable.

Personally I’d rather keep Myers then Sanheim. Had a down year, but I like his skill set and makeup much better. TK has been an utter disappointment since they came back from the pause… I’d be absolutely fine with moving on from him and his contract.

That said, these open holes that have to be filled. That’s the catch. Maybe they will get lucky and someone will want Voracek.

Regarding documentation, I suggest you go to NBC sports Boston or the Felger&Mazz 98.5 sports hub site and listen to yesterday's show as an example.

In forming my opinion, I try to avoid being influenced by poor sources. This would be an example of poor sources. I thought it was something along those lines that led you to believe that Hamilton is a soft player.

I didn’t say Frost. I said Myers, Patrick, a 1st, and prospect not named York.

There are a lot of teams that probably think they can make something of Patrick. A top 15 pick, a prospect of your choice, and a 6’ 5” young defenseman with a bomb of shot, skates like the wind, plays physical, who is coming off a down season after a very good one.

For a guy who will be gone one way or another next year and is only willing to play for a select few teams.

Yeah I’m sure they’d just hang up the phone, I doubt that would be a conversation starter. Anything they get is a steal.

Until he is put into a better situation than Buffalo I will reserve judgment on him whether he knows how to win when it matters.
