I believe Hagel has some talent still to develop. But the point about needing talent is spot on. In an effort to give HawkintheD another opportunity to call me a troll....the Hawks need more talent. - mohel
How much does the needle move for next season if Hawks add Jones and Barkov by only subtracting Dach and some change? |

Yes, all three of the calls on Vegas weren't called.
I guess I will always be an underdog guy, but I get happy everytime isles and habs win. - wiz1901
As am i, but the way the Bolts play 200 feet of defense realistically they can repeat. |

I know that you keep stating that and beating that dead horse, but you are right on, the Hawks need more talent. When I see Hagel on the fourth line, then I’ll know that we have added talent. I like Hagel, but realistically he’s a fourth line player on a good team, maybe he can move up on occasion when injuries occur, but that’s it. We need two good forwards with skill and size and two good dmen with size as well. Z needs to go and sorry to say, I have now seen enough of Keith, I don’t even want to see him for limited minutes. Just my $0.02 - Angotti

Maybe but that is why you pay him 5 mil Fleury looks shaky and Price is showing what a 1st rd Goalie can do for a mediocre team . - oldduffman
Fleury was the first overall pick in his draft year. He's a first round goalie too. Lehner is poop, Colorado showed how poopty he is in one game. |

Fleury has always had trouble in big games. Remember when he was with Pittsburgh, he was always so unpredictable when the playoffs rolled around. - paulr
He's had two amazing playoff runs in his career and the rest were average. His first cup in Pittsburgh and first year in Vegas. |

Florida will never let Barkov walk. They'll have the space to re-sign him. |

Fun fact, Canadiens and the Blackhawks had 24 wins this year, 1 team is 2 wins away from the SC finals and the other never made the playoffs |

Well Jones agent said he wants to explore free agency, so that's a no go.
Will Florida actually put their money where their mouth is, we'll see |

And what if Barkov wants to test free agency and play in a different market? |

And a billionaire one at that, but I’ll cut him some slack because he’s right, they do need more talent. They don’t have to acquire this talent in one year, they need to be patient as these young defensemen need to gain more experience as well. |

They'll trade him. They aren't letting him leave for nothing is my popint. Why the (frank) would he want to sign in Chicago? Florida was really good this year . This team isn't going anywhere any time soon. |

Exactly! It's not like the Golden Era team was built in one draft. Not saying they have the makings of the equivalent here, but I hope the blueprint for this season is similar to the last.
Maybe they sign a couple players to 1 year deals and flip them at the TDL again. While they may be a couple seasons or more from contending, I do think if they get a healthy Toews back and Dach's raring to go they could at least be competing for a playoff spot.

You can run your own mock 2021 draft now. It would be interesting to see how many people would be wrong by not selecting Raty.

Not enough can be said about that big four Hab defenders.
Weber
Petry
Chiarot
Edmundson
All three are very quick, hard, and solid with their sticks in wall battles. They stay focused and close on everybody.
#6 Weber is on a mission; hit Cole Caufield after the whistle and see what happens to you when play resumes.
Continue reading comment here about "small" and size matters, but what really fun to watch
Brendan Gallagher 5 9 180
Paul Byron 5 9 165
Artturi Lehtonan 5 11 185
Young Nick Suzuki a 200 pounder at 5' 11
never not hitting the Vegas defense in pursuit.
So you don't draft for height, but for bite.
I am not sure when I watched all the Victoriaville games prior to the Hawks taking him that #24 would turn into such difference matter.
TALENT comes in many ways on the way to the Cup. It shows prior to the playoffs. - wiz1901
Yes Wiz, they can get away with smaller talented forwards, because as you stated they are big on the back end. The Hawks could have Boqvist, Beaudin, Kalynuk, and Mitchell on their back end, so they need more size to go with these young dmen, as well as some more size upfront. By the way, at least one of the young aforementioned dmen will probably get traded this off-season, we shall see. |

Could be a lot of things.
Maybe he likes cold weather.
Maybe he wants to go to a hockey market.
Maybe he wants to play for an original six team.
Even if traded, he could still want to test free agency next summer. No guarantee he will extend with the team he is traded to.
I don't know and you don't know what he is thinking.

Possibly Fleury rebounds I think the lack of action works against him .Lehner is a expensive back up not to use right now .All teams in the final 4 have a 1st Rd. pick in net . Interesting . |

Some say I'm a billionaire, others have said I'm a minimum wage guy (some can connect the dots there).
Another thing they need to do, imo, is trade the young players that they don't believe will cut it before the rest of the league agrees. |

Question....is it ever too warm outside to drink brown liquor? Not for you, specifically, more of a general question. I'm rooting for a "no", Chief. |

Wow...yeah, I'm probably the wrong guy to ask. Old Fashioned's still go down pretty good on a hot summer day. That's what they make those big ice cubes for. |
