Lehner in starters net at practice this morning. Like to see him give up about 4 goals in the 1st period. |

I like it, I would be very interested in Scott Mayfield also. He would be a good stop gap for Mitchell to develop in the A and would make a strong right side of our current defense. Also, he would bring a bit of the ‘hard to play against’ element that our defense lacks. Later the hawks can choose either Mayfield or Murph to extend, or why not both? - zm333
He's on a reasonable contract at 1.5M for 2 more seasons. Can't see Lou letting him go unless he thinks he'll lose him in expansion for nothing. Sounds like a good add though. |

Lou will probably let Beauvillier go for a draft choice. Insert Wallstrom. - LAHawk
Hopefully Stan is making calls to Lou. |

GPS is acerbic for sure but the guy complaining argues with everyone and is not liked by a single poster in the Sabre thread. |

I am loving theses playoffs because after they high praise and additions in new audience, starting with the speed and punch the newbies saw in the Tampa vs. Sunrise Panthers series, the physicality and injuries are mounting up which might make this a last man standing Cup win.
Every playoff has teams keying on finishing on as many backlines as possible, but these series have been especially fun, because the hits are hard, you don't know who is really injured (except last night Pierre McQuire told us Jean-Gabriel Pageau is hurting), and there seems to be definite retaliation like in the old days.
(I started laughing happily with the Brooklyn fans who were loudly cheering big hits, and in unison chanting, "(frank) you Lightning!") It was so reminiscent of my earlier Stadium days when the place acted as extra deterrent for visiting teams.
A player I always liked, Matt Martin, showed he was still someone to not mess with, and I was so hoping at some point he destroys Maroon, simply because the local Tampa broadcasters call him big rig and revere him like he is the consummate heavy forward.
And if Tampa wants a consecutive Cup, I really didn't want and easy series / opponents which I felt they had last series dance, so I am loving that their scooters are taking abuse, that after a seasons of Cernak being their potato smasher, he is getting a return mashing, and the world's greatest Russian goalie has to earn his pay.
No one can dispute that in the past two years the game has gotten even faster and more skilled, but it is a extreme pleasure watching hockey won in the trenches just like when there were only six teams, a 72 game schedule, and the four that played HAD to dig deepest becasue everyone KNEW each other so well.
Same with other series. I am happy Vegas has been such useful to get quality pros through the trade route, the UFA route and the expansion route.
(Remember to "take" Fleury from Pittsburgh the PENS gave the a second rounder too! besides the Florida if you draft Jonathan Marchessault, we will send you Reilly Smith AND a 4th rounder nd the The Minnesota Wild traded Alex Tuch in exchange for Vegas selecting Erik Haula and a conditional third-round pick in the 2017 or 2018 NHL Entry Draft)
Kudos for their success but don't think I want any easy path for them either.
In my opinion, that have been great for the sport, their new fan base, and maybe a little disappointment on their plate makes them more like all the other franchises.
So when 4th liner Chandler Stephanson is hurt to a first line centre and the rookie centres you KEPT over Suzuki, Cody Glass or Peyton Krebs aren't guys you yet trust, I guess you didn't complete the sentence, "you build your hockey team down the _________."
So I would love to see the guys there in Vegas stall, start being frustrated into penalties and having to play up to their salaries.
I would love the L.A. King hawk killer Martinez on the Hawks, but I love every hit he receives in the series. No puck luck for Tuch? boo-hoo. I was tired of Pierre holding his nuts too.
I want these games decided by how well a team plays in these conditions, no tweaks on what we have seen, just what the rules have allowed to be stretched, no changes.
We may NEVER see a series in other years where the finesse gets as many blinders are this one, and I am loving it. |

Did Cernak ever return? after getting a well deserved big hit. He's been a nice find for the Bolts playing many tough minutes. |

So when did Vegas stop forechecking? No wonder why the Habs are up. Just terrible.
The last 2 series, especially vs Avs must of taken a serious toll. They look terrible |

For me, 1971 and 1973 was a long time ago, after our three cups I have moved on, so I’m going with the underdog. I don’t hold a grudge, see I let it go after 37 years. |
