It just feels like it and man, it would be a boring (frank)ing cup.

Babcock's statement was a clear and direct shot at analytics.

I'm certain he's been told he can't coach because he doesn't embrace fancy stats. I know I've heard it here.

I don't know of any bloggers that believe that. It's comical that the anti-stats people skew their perception to fit their own narrative.

It makes him feel better about his exciting team that can’t make it out of the first round for a few years so cool.

How would it be boring? There was nothing boring about the Tampa Islanders game last night. And it had nothing to do with Tampa.

If you believe the Pens team is just fine and goaltending was the only thing that got them eliminated, you’re probably watching more stats than what was going on in front of both teams net during that series.

See your initial post should have just been “I don’t understand stats.”

LOL, I understand statistics just fine. I worked with bean counters my whole life.

Agreed...we need more grit on both ends. Most of our goal scorers are perimter shooters and lack net clearing defensemen. The playoffs are a different animal, clutch and grab comes back and no such thing as intereference...

We've won the Cup 2 out of the past 5 years... trust me, we are doing okay over here.

I dont think you guys are boring. you know your team and what it can do, you have a game plan based off of that, and run it consistently not matter what is happening. it is a good formula to win playoff games.

Horny was a big loss on the offensive net front. We better not get Risto, that would be a big downgrade from what Ceci provided.

Looks like Vegas starting Lehner over Fleury after throwing him under the bus. Hope Lehner blows up again. Go Habs.

He made a terrible play no doubt. Fleury has been outstanding and let a bad one in to tie the game. Jarry poop the bed completely and totally lost a series and Sully didn't blame it on him.

Deboer is a poop coach, prime example again.

Nah, def not boring to me. There's an excitement in the air around here for it now. Hopefully if Habs do indeed advance, which really is getting way ahead of ourselves at this point haha, they can have more fans in the stands. Isles' and Knights' barns sound fvcking awesome.

Hahaha they do fine until the try to stick handle or do something fancy.

Hahah Yeah I agree, it's just a fitting joke with an abundance of blatant very costly handling blunders these playoffs.

No matter who the Pens have start in net next season they need to focus on reducing the quality chances against. Ultimately it won't matter who is in net if they do not.

Between Matheson and Petterson Matheson did much better last season. Matheson played up to his contract while Petterson did not. Matheson's contract is one year longer and about $850k more per year than Petterson's. I think they should protect Matheson (despite the length of his contract) and expose Petterson in the expansion draft. I don't think that Seattle will take either anyway - definitely not Petterson. I expect Seattle to take a forward.

I’m with you here but some folks won’t give any love to Matheson. Crazy. He did just fine and became the 2nd pairing guy he was once in Florida. Pettersson’s upside is lower and his contract is just as high. I’d move him for sure.

The only way the on ice product gets better by trading Matheson is if they get a cheaper Matheson. Don’t see it happening. POJ isn’t as good as Matheson. Marino isn’t as good as Matheson.

To me you have to decide between Matheson and Marino. They both make second pair money and they just aren't going to make a really good second pair. Petterson needs to be gone regardless. He is ok but overpaid for being a 2/3 pair tweener on a long contract.

As much as Jarry needs replaced, this D group needs rebuilt. Look at the D group of every team still going and look at the Pens... not even close. The easiest way to get there is moving Petterson and Marino.

Pettersson is not overpaid. Pettersson is a legit #4 dman. Both Pettersson and Marino had rough starts to the season, but rebounded nicely, yet people got a bug up their asses about them and couldn't let go.

It's also not between Marino and Pettersson, it's between Pettersson and Matheson. Pettersson doesn't need to be gone, but he will be gone for the simple fact he actually has value and his contract is moveable.

You could replace Matheson with Del Zotto for league minimum.
