well I could understand them adding to that with Reinhart who's got similar experience. But if you guys need another center, it does seem odd to give up that pick given all the centers projected in that range.
Flames could have picked Barzal at ~15 instead of trading it for Hamonic. Food for thought. Calgary needs a RW, but I expect them to miss out just like Anderson, Toffoli, etc. It'll be interesting to see which Centers projected in the 10-15 range make it, I wouldn't mind seeing the Flames hold their pick and take a shot at one of them.. - eastcanadAREaholes
These are only rumors so far though. Freidman said Buffalo will probably get a second top 10 pick this year but I think that will be from the Eichel to Anaheim trade.
Benning has mentioned nothing about trading other than the usual BS GMs say about looking at options.
I think if Benning did trade that top 10 pick it would be for a young Dman not Reinhart.

Yep...already going to be tough for them to pay Petterson and Hughes...now add Reinhart to the mix? Going to need to be some salary going out somehow. |

Exactly, plus Demko is in that range.
Dim Jim is an idiot. Should have kept Toffoli and not signed Virtanen, who's likely finished in Vancouver after the rape investigation and his poop play more importantly. - MisterBrown
He was a free agent for three days ,30 other GMs had a chance to sign him. I remember in Canucks threads it was a 50/50 split with just as many posters saying not to sign TT.
I thought Benning should have been gone after last year but he is still here so until then that is what we have. The moves so far this year are positive .

So ninth overall AND a top prospect for a 50 point-ish failed centerman turned winger?
Please......although I wouldn't put it passed Benning to totally screw it up. - Whiskey-Tango
11 th in goal scoring last year
190 points in last 240 games
not sure where you get a 50 point player out of it |

Good Trade for both teams..? A 1st & Holtby & d/man Tyler Myers as they are not good on Defencmen in buffalo it could also be there top young winger Lind there Top prospect winger..?
But Sam Reinhart is a RFA was making $5.2 Million PA, Im Sure the Canucks want to sign him to a 7 year contract and need to clear more salary room at the trade...? maybe its a first and a 2nd round pick in the Deal...?? to make it work with a D
& Goaltender - White
Why would the Sabres take 2 cap dumps, they could do far better

Getting First round picks for 2022....This will maximize the potential %s along with a future Eichel trade, get as many 1st round picks for 2022 and increase your %s at obtaining a legitimate #1 overall that caters to your teams true needs. Not this 2021 draft, the worst in 20 years.
Yes, a 2022 pick would be better but you are in complete dream land if you don't think they lottery protect at least the top 5

Could one possibly have anything to do with the other?
How was he defensively? How'd he stack up against other top line centers?
I'd like Sam on the second line alongside Bo Horvat, but unless you guys are taking back a terrible contract (Erickson,Myers, Hotlby etc), that price is ridiculous. |

I wonder if this is the new SHINEY object that distracts JB from doing his job and minding the "time" that he apparently ran out of (stupid OEL!!!) last time. |

I would take your 2022 1st straight up. And you know what your getting with Rhino, the others are prospects and either might be good or might not. |

LOL.
Let me some this up.
Every fansbase overrates their prospects and draft picks.
Every fanbase wants to get good players for scraps.

These are not our prospects . They are draft eligible prospects. The same ones Buffalo want for Reinhart.

Not enough! DiPietro is ok but there would need to be a forward ready to play top 9 in the NHL. Hoglander or MacEwen would also need to be included. - G - Man
You’ll take Erickson and be happy.

I'm definitely not in the business of over rating the s*** I've seen over the last decade. For what it's worth, I'd take Sam Reinhart on my team at 7 million dollars per year over Jack eichel at ten million dollars per year any day of the week. Sam has done nothing but stand in front of the net and get hacked while putting in goals; been told by the idiots running the Sabres he can't play center and then succeed at wing.... and then succeed at center when injury put him back there; and stay healthy while other players miss time constantly. He's the prize of the available Sabre players.
Very fair offer on both sides if thats what happens. Shame Sam has learned to hate the Sabres. It was less his fault than any of the other constants over the past 10 seasons. |
