Taj was whining again today on twitter that if we trade the 9OA for Reinhart it not a good move. When we could have kept the pick and signed TT lol
Isn't Reinhart a batter, more consistent younger player than TT?
Might not be so bad. - LordHumungous
Oh the wise one . Surprised some NHL club hasn't scooped him up .

Reinhart had an equally impressive season on a much worse team, is younger and can play both C/W

If Reinhart was that consistent on a bad Buffalo squad for years he would have to be better here no? |

Taj is an idiot and agreed was just thinking the same thing responding to Vantel on Reinhart. Very consistent scorer and young. Versatile. |

I would be okay either way . I am not leaning for or against a big move because I don't know this draft class.
I can see Benning walking up to the podium and selecting the 9 OA and I could see him trading it to a team forced to make a trade like TB

To put Seth Jones to bed, I just read on HF that he apparently will not sign long term in Canada. |

Wonder if it’s for political or geological reasons. Oh well, I’ve read he’s on the decline anyway and was outplayed by Werenski |

I honestly don't think TB have the assets for 9OA unless they send pieces they will not give up. Cirelli and Cernak combined to me is not worth it. Cirelli is a very good 3c that could be a 2c, but not replacing EP or Bo and is ultimately not worth it for us, and Cernak is doesn't move the needle on Cirelli for 9oa. The assets after that are not ones they will want to move. |

I just threw their name out there , it could be any team. |

Trotz Is the best coach on earth and Travis Green Isn't qualified to coach at this level at least not yet It would be fun to see these two switch teams next season with the same players on each squad that are playing for the 2 respective teams now and just see what happens. That would be a fun experiment. |

Pretty big blow to the team.
What an opportunity for Burrows tho. |

That is not his original content. Jeff Patterson brought it up and he isn’t wrong. Not the exact same player, but similar enough to make the Canucks look even worse if they made that move. It would certainly cost more than just the draft pick. |

I disagree. Toffoli is having his best year ever . His time spent with Canucks all 10 regular season and 7 playoff games) he was closer to what Pearson did who Vancouver fans showed their displeasure with when he signed his new contract.
I remember here on these boards, quite a few posters saying do not sign him ,Jake was faster and had 18 goals the year before.
Pearson signed 3 years at 9 .6 mil and had played 121 games and had 40 goals. Can you imagine if Benning signed Toffoli at 4 years 18 mil. Hindsight is a beautiful thing but I really doubt Toffoli was scoring 30 goals playing most of the year with JTM and Brock.

I really have no idea what your point is. Toffoli was a good top 6 option, and produced. Reinhardt would also be a top 6 winger, a little younger, for a little more money.
I didn’t want to sign Toffoli, and I don’t want to trade for Reinhardt.
What I’m saying is the organization looks even worse, trading the 2nd + Madden PLUS the 9th and whatever else they would need to include to get a deal done to end up in “roughly” the same place.
We will never know if Toffoli would have had an impact in Vancouver this past season. |

That really is a load of crap about trading the second. When the Canucks traded for him the league announced that next years cap was 3 mil higher than it actually was. Many teams made moves thinking they had more money.
There isn't a person I know of that predicted a flat cap of and a pandemic that shut down the world back in February.
If Benning signed Toffoli for four years at 18 million dollars after playing 17 games the media and the fans would have a field day.
Don't you remember what it was like in here before free agency? It was close to a 6 to 4 vote in favor of NOT committing to Toffoli.

Why is it a load of crap trading the 2nd? Did it not happen?
No one foresaw the flat cap/pandemic, but you can't say Jim hadn't put himself in an awkward position even before that.
And Benning signed a whole lot of players before they even played a game for the Canucks. Better to sign someone you traded for and actually saw play/see them fit in rather than 0 games (Sutter) or all his FA spending. |
