Rathbone will surpass Foote by the end of next season.
- Shuswap Wap

I think so too but can you ride Hughes OJ Rathbone all on one side?

By youngish you mean mid twenties like Jones?
- NuckUp

Mid twenties, not Jones.

Probably not, but that's what they should do. Get them all playing time this year, don't make any big free agent signings or big trades, then make moves next off season when Beagle, LE, virtanen are all gone.

Time is not on Bennings side. You run that left side you are finishing bottom 10 . Nice draft pick for the team but not something the team is going to do.

I'd do OJ for Foote but not Rathbone. I like that deal.

The sooner they get one the closer they are to completing the core. The other parts of the roster will emerge from pieces they have in development.

Benning is now ensured his contract, he has nothing to lose. He knows this is more than likely his last year here, and he has been endorsed by ownership for the upcoming season.

You keep implying the other end of the spectrum. Teams trying to build a competing roster need to make targets that get them there. Can you name a stud RSD that Canucks can draft?
- NuckUp

I'm not on the other end of the spectrum. You just think there is only two ends. About everything.

Love Jones but apparently he wont re up in Canada
- neem55

If it were possible would you straight swap JTM for him and give him a year to change his mind? I know I would.

That does not work for TB . They need to protect OJ and if I was TB I would keep things the same and hope Seattle take another player.

Rathbone does not need protection.

Rathbone can play in Abbottsford next year and that is where he will most likely play.

Don't be too sure about that, he looked pretty good playing on the Canucks.

OJ is exempt I believe. Carol mentioned it in a previous blog unless I am mistaken

I am going to disagree Codes. I think even with the blessing of Francesco , I don't think the owner wants to hear chants of Fire Benning at the arena. It would be too distracting for the players and a league embarrassment . I think they need a big summer and a strong start or else heads will roll. I think OJ will be signed as a #7 and they will make moves to fix the D.

She did mention that, but I think she's wrong if she said that. CapFriendly has him as being able to be taken. I think he missed the threshold for being able to be exposed, but he's not exempt from being taken.

Hey all. Not bitter about 2011, but all the crying about reffing that's going against the "plucky underdog" and "easy to cheer for" Habs team kinda makes me ill.

What's the point of the threshold then if it don't matter?

That doesn’t count as the pandemic was in wave 1 not wave 3. Other teams didn’t try earlier in the pandemic

Some consistency would be nice. Getting kind of tired of these “windows” that seem to open every ten year cycle.

We hear it every off season. Young guys always improve with age (essentially every year is a career year) and that a bunch of prospective scraps scattered in the minors will fill the cavernous holes in this roster.

Never fails.
