What's the point of the threshold then if it don't matter? - manvanfan
It’s the requirement that all teams expose at least 1 D, 1 F and 1 G that meet certain criteria - games played, under contract etc. failing to expose someone in each category carries steep penalties for the team. BUT, it doesn’t mean that Seattle has to take one of those players, they can take anyone who isn’t protected or exempt. |

If it were possible would you straight swap JTM for him and give him a year to change his mind? I know I would. - golfingsince
I would.
I would trade Miller for cap space. |

We hear it every off season. Young guys always improve with age (essentially every year is a career year) and that a bunch of prospective scraps scattered in the minors will fill the cavernous holes in this roster.
Never fails. - bloatedhefty
i was told that the rebuild was 80% done 5 years ago. the rest was just natural development based on age.

In the Rick Bowness interview he talked about how most teams have their roster's set and players have to come in and knock their socks off to make the team.
I can't remember the last time a lesser tiered Canucks prospect knocked socks off.
In the past 16 years, the best answer is probably Ben Hutton ffs. |

Hutton, Stecher, Virtanen, McCann, Gaudette, Höglander all made the team (and maybe shouldn’t have- except maybe Hog) |

Ya, basically that. Exposure and exemption are not the same =) One of the reasons they traded for Bowey, he fits the exposure threshold (only the third Canucks D to), otherwise they would have been forced to expose Myers or Schimdt |

No doubt those Canuck players need support to develop. That's why they need stud RSD to add now. Foote if attained, at low value, would need Schmidt to carry him. - NuckUp
Schmidt can’t carry himself, how’s he supposed to carry anyone else?

He got major awards votes this year. Sounds like a difference maker to me. |

Would that increase his importance in your mind?
He looks like the kind of guy to whip out a six string around a camp fire… |

He was a good addition, sometimes it takes players. bit longer to a adjust to a new team, even he said it's tough to come to a new team during covid. Benning got him for a great price and the defense is being rebuilt. |

He's still in the league? It's been years since we've proposed a trade for him. |

I think so too but can you ride Hughes OJ Rathbone all on one side? - VANTEL
No but OJ is the one I’d deal if he has any trade value left. |

My gut feeling is they will go Hughes top pair OJ @#7 and Rathbone another year in the AHL

He'd be a fraud of a country farm boy if he didn't
Just saying if Holtby, Sutter and Motte weren't hockey players, I wouldn't bat an eye if I saw dudes that looked like them in some sort of a country band together |

That’s a bold move cotton.
I don’t think they will be able to resist the temptation to play Boner, to give the fans hope and demonstrate what a dynamic core of young players they have.
Guess it will depend on what they manage in the off season - is Edler back, do they get enough righties to move Schmidt to his natural side etc. |
