I thought we were trying to win

You said “playoff team”, not “winning playoff team”. Last time the team was in the playoffs it was those 4 guys…

I’d say this extremely unlikely. Rathbone has clearly passed OJ

Recently, every season, a draft pick makes an impact on the roster. Yet those advocating for more draft picks, say its fantasy that Canucks are developing players to fill the roster.

He was a good addition, sometimes it takes players. bit longer to a adjust to a new team, even he said it's tough to come to a new team during covid. Benning got him for a great price and the defense is being rebuilt.

Erik Gudbranson said the same thing.

To be fair a bottom dwelling team has had what 5 players impact the roster? Pettersson, Hughes, Boeser, Demko and Hoglander?

Hoglander's impact was less than .5 points per game despite coming to camp having actually played hockey while others didn't. I like the kid but lets not overstate his importance just yet.

The rest couldn't crack the lineup on a consistent basis. Yes I still want to draft and develop but were now at a stage where some of those thrown away 2nd round picks could be filling the age gap.

Nobody saw a concussion coming for Sven.

Is that why he didn't play this year?

Hasn't been the same since, he's afraid to get hit, and I can't blame him.

Aggressive...

Resign Hamonic & try to sign Savard. Size & sandpaper on the right for compliments. Cost no assets. Other aspects is picks/cap out for 1 key add either by trade or UFA eg 3C.

Also not effective in a bottom 6 role.

He scored 46 points in 43 games in the AHL the year before last. 2 points in 6 NHL games. His AHL totals are his best ever........

Either he's not good enough to play at both ends of the rink or he's getting blackballed by his coach. Considering the coach just signed an extension it's a poor look either way.

AHL is slower pace so he can avoid hits and still be effective. He'll do well there and in the KHL.

Let's see where he ends up after this, I bet he's done in the NHL unless it's as a call-up after injuries.

It's amazing Sidney Crosby was able to return to being the best player in the league after going through worse concussion issues.

Maybe the real answer is he wasn't that good to begin with? Maybe that's why Calgary traded him (former 1st) for a 2nd?

Did Linden Vey also suffer a concussion?

There was that but top 6 wingers weren’t a problem. Bottom 6 C was a black hole.

They got more for him than we'll for Jake.

Basically, Sven's offensive abilities were never enough to overcome his defensive deficiencies. We all saw that watching him play.

Still, he's probably one of the best 2nd round picks we've traded recently.

Yeah, Jake is officially a bust. If he succeeds elsewhere good for him. At least that one is FA's fault.

Myers was 2nd on the ice in average ice time for a reason, he was trusted in all situations by the coaching staff.

Wow, just read that Tom Kurvers passed away. 58 years old and died of lung cancer, non-smoker.

He was a pretty decent Dman although he's probably best known as the pick that turned into Scott Niedermayer.

Saw that, too. I remember when he was a Canuck.
