I don't remember one person on here saying sign a free agent for 7 years but it is always fun to make things up because that is what some folks on here are best at. - VANTEL
That's what this entire site is built off, and what people do here every single day. You think we're all here reporting the facts?
And realistically, what would Landeskog sign for to move away from the team that drafted him and he's captained, especially to go to a non-contender like Vancouver? Honestly. |

I agree, not sure the powers that be, agree with this though.
After what transpired last off-season, I doubt they are willing to move out any of the key pieces this summer. - Reubenkincade
I don't think you move him this summer. Maybe next year at the draft – he'd still have a year left on his deal. If the Canucks are crashing out of the playoffs, maybe TDL... that'd be a huge return |

2 teams that I am keeping an eye on this off-season are Colorado and Florida, both have solid teams, but are missing an ingredient or 2.
The Canucks have Miller, that would be a perfect fit, for both those teams.
Although I just don't see it happening, yet. |

sign landeskog for 3 years at 5 mil. hyman at 3 years for 4 mil and hamilton for 3 years at 5 mil.
remember, this is the best time to be a canuck fan on HB, the offseason where anything is not only possible but it's probable. |

Idea here.
Miller wants to play centre. Having him as 3lc for the Canucks is kind of a 50/50 idea amongst fans.
Here's where I'm going with this. The Minnesota Wild are looking for a top 6 center as requested by Kaprizov.
At the draft, trade Miller to Minny for one of their 1st round picks which currently is 21 and 25. Request some parts with it. Picks or prospects.
I know Dumba's name will come up quickly there but personally I wouldn't.
They have lots of decent up and coming prospects. |

I am trying to look back and see how many 7 year deals the free agents signed last year? |

i like the idea. that should open up discussions/negotiations to get a decent deal but....
i don't see jb doing it. the team is in a win-now phase (at least from our outside view) so if a deal gets made with a jtm type (meaning a big piece of the team), i think a player (whether it's a proven guy or a young guy who's shown he can play) that can be placed in the lineup right away has to come back. |

Second paragraph is really the problem. The Canucks are always in the wrong phase. It's always the wrong time or something.
They get good players but can't draft help or they draft well but can't trade or good players are ending their careers as new ones are just upcoming.
Crap luck or stupidity or both, timing is usually just off. (I don't necessarily believe in luck)
Maybe doing something at the seemingly wrong time might set course in a direction that would end up at the right time.
Trading for Miller was seemingly the wrong time and for one season it worked well. |

Krug and Pietroangelo off the top of my head. Why don't you answer a question directly instead of skirting it? |

can't disagree with any of this.
and in my opinion, the timing is off because they've tried to do too many things at the same time. too many objectives that work against each other combined with bad luck and here we are. |

Ya, I don't think they'd trade him this year as they're hoping last year is a one-off. But if they do trade him, they'd have to have something to sell to the other players. JTM is a big part of the team, so just bringing in a draft pick/prospects isn't going to cut it. They'd have to get a young, proven player back. More of a "hockey trade" type of deal |

As Gillis said being able to stick to a vision. Should be able to do multiple things to a certain extent. Example not trading for Miller because they are only drafting. That probably would have been a mistake. Miller turned out really well. Signing vets to give draft picks time to develop. It would be great if Beagle and Roussel could have bounce back years and are traded for picks at the TDL.
Owner mandates might hinder processes a bit, we don't really know.
Does suck they can't put it together continuously though.

I don't necessarily believe that. You would try and get a ready prospect but I don't think they would "need" a proven player back.
Getting a 1st which is your risk. Plus whatever they ask for. Usually JB likes prospects that are more developed. Little less risk.
I think you would get less, getting a proven player back. |

Not proven proven, but not a draft pick made in the last year or so. Someone they have more confidence in projecting... like a Fabbro or Bean or Foote. Developed more. |

I'd be okay with 21 and 25 in the draft. |
