I think this is a good way to look at it. If it was Martin on Stamkos or Point it would probable be a suspension. Barzal gets a fine and we all get ready for game 6.

ok NEW here. Just wanted to drop in and say how much i detest Tampa and want the Isles (who i've always liked since the dynasty yrs) to beat them (to put it lightly).... It's safe to say Tampa has recently taken over as my most hated team from Pittsburg. I can't think of a more dirty, scummy, CHEATING, slimy bunch of buggers in a long time. I would love to see a Bryan Marchment style hit on Kucherov, GORDE, Point, Stamkos, Killorn, etc etc. Last nights game P*SS*D me off so much i shut it off at 4-0 and i was so looking forward to a good game and an Isles win. I want a MONT/Isles final - here's hoping they atleast get to game 7. Cheers to all you for reading this run on rant!

So welcome to hbuzz. I have been an Isles fan since the beginning, and even I do not hate Tampa as much as you.

I went back and watched that replay. I'd be floored if he got a suspension. Worst case he gets a $5k fine and that's all she wrote.

I agree I don't think a suspension is warranted on the crosscheck itself as there have been crosschecks like this in many one on one battles. That said, couple reasons I'm nervous is 1, it's the NHL and they have gotten many decisions wrong and 2, Barzal is going after Ruuta in a retaliatory manner with Ruuta skating away from the exchange prior to Barzal's 2 Crosschecks on him.
Hopefully he's not suspended as that would be a huge blow to the Isles obviously on a selfish play by Barzal.

I hope he doesn't but the fact that the play was looked at and the major penalty was upheld also will weigh into the Leagues decision.
Might be playing somewhere else if he doesn't learn how to keep his head and not lose it.

No update on Jan Rutta or Erik Cernak from Jon Cooper

Medical personnel have been looking at the guy since the second period last night and...there's no update at all? No word on if it's so bad that his head fell off, or if he just needed a band-aid? No one knows if it's a concussion or a bruise? It's a medical mystery?

Since injuries, or lack thereof, inform supplemental discipline decisions, it's kind of lame they're going to just keep silent probably until two seconds after the league makes a decision on Barzal.

Like the pens teams of the past they’ll do anything to win. Look at Kucherov diving all over the ice along with half the team. Have to give them credit they do whatever it takes to win. I may not agree with it but they get away with it and have been successful doing it…
