It is his personal life and nobody needs to know. Nothing criminal so stop moaning about it. If and when he's ready to say something he will.

It is criminal that the public has not been told about what is wrong with toews
- LFS

That is private information, it will not be released unless the employee (in this case Toews) agrees to release said information. It’s called HIPAA…

You are kidding yourself if you think if the Hawks played conservative that they will be giving up any less goals than they currently do. Montreal has 5 veteran defenseman, each one a better defensive defenseman than the Hawks have, and Gus that basically plays power play. The forwards are better defensively than the Hawks forwards. And of course they have Carey Price to erase most mistakes. How many points did the Hawks lose last year with the veterans out on the ice in the last few minutes of the game or OT that they got scored upon? I can think of Carolina, Tampa as 2 at the end of the season for sure.
- LAHawk

Weber is getting abused every time he is on the ice. Chairot is carrying him. Its the forwards doing the heavy lifting.

And you are giving them way too much credit. They had the same amount of wins as the Blackhawks in an inferior division. Faced off against 2 very soft teams in the playoffs. Plenty of rest to face Vegas and Vegas just went to war against arguably the Stanley Cup favorites.

The only reason the Habs made the playoffs is because their division sucks. Its a win for the Blackhawks since the Habs will get a poopty draft pick this year

Well the forwards are playing defense 1st, clogging up the neutral zone playing very very very cautious because their coach knows its the only way they can beat the better teams they are facing

Honestly Vegas forecheck was virtually non existent in game 4

Well Keith got abused all year, and their is NO one to carry him. There is NO one to carry anyone on the Hawks defense currently.

Some people have no patience for a rebuild I guess. Not sure what Weber playing terribly has to do with the Hawks but okay

Please no Eichel not at the cost of Dach. and 3 players at 10million? that would be perfect for a rebuilding team! spend even more time in cap hell and the bottom of the leagues standings if this trade is made.

I have plenty of patience, I have no patience for those that the Hawks are anywhere close to being a playoff team, and it is the coaching that is holding them back.

Habs bottom 6 is much better than what Vegas runs out there aside from maybe Tuch. The other 5 guys are not very good. Habs have better centers than Vegas. Vegas has a better top 6 overall but its close than many think. Vegas is deeper on D which will be the Habs downfall. They are playing their top 4 too much to last for 7 games. That is why last night was a huge win for Vegas.

I think they are closer than many think in their division. I like the direction of the team and am willing to suffer they growing pains.

There’s so much parity in the NHL that pretty much every team is within striking distance (one productive off-season) of being a playoff team. Being a legit contender is another story altogether.

I like the direction of the team also. Is it Colliton's fault they did not win one game against Nashville, being out goaltended (mainly Saros) playing lights out in almost every one of those games?

And that is not a slight against Lankinen. Saros almost single handidly put Nashville in the playoffs.

I don't believe I ever blamed Colliton nor am I in that camp. I saw a team come to play every night. That is a reflection of the coach, IMO. IS he the right guy to take them further? Can't honestly say. Not sure what coach could get more out of a line-up running 6-10 rookies out there every night. Including half the D-men on many nights.

And missing their top center for the whole year, their second best center for the majority of the year, and their third best, albeit slow as molasses in January, center for a significant stretch.

I also think they were counting on or at least hoping for a "serviceable Seabrook" which never happened.

I am hoping thy can make a leap as a team next season. They really do need to start getting their shot totals down. That is what I will looking for next season.

I do think some of the problems defensively was the constant changing of line combos but I feel that was done as part of a development process. Putting the young guys is different situations and seeing how they respond but nor overdoing it to point of the players losing total confidence

General statement, not directed at one specific poster, or necesarily at anyone this blog. Reading another blog, makes my head spin, everything is JC's fault.

Thanks Theo - I would hate to see the #11 pick used on a goaltender....yes it is am important position, but I think a #1 Dman is a much higher need.

I wonder why you did not include Craig Anderson in your list of veteran backstops as options next season? Just wondering if there is any interest by hiss family to get back "home" before he retires?

Power enforcer

Hawk Needs:
Top Pairing defenseman
Top line forward
#1 Goalie

And those are just the first 3 needs. Just pick the best player available regardless of position. Hawks as currently constructed are no where near a playoff team, whether Colliton, or the ghost of Toe Blake is coaching them.

And those that say the Hawks could beat the Habs in a seven game series? I highly doubt it. Look how the Habs smother the Knights offense, imagine they only have to smother 2 forwards on the Hawks.

If Bowman takes a goaltender at #11, it is a clear indication that he feels the kid can become elite and better than Comesso. Not that Comesso is not highly regarded. Just really love the ceiling in another kid.

Tha said, I hope they don't take a goaltender. To some extent, though, you have to look at whom is available. Maybe someone they like is still available. Yet just to sound more confusing, how close were the Blackhawks trading for the draft spot which yielded Aaskorov?

I agree, but a total team commitment to defense is needed, and that would be much easier to accomplish with legit 2 way centers anchoring the top two lines. It’s not all on the D-man. Toews obviously still a huge question mark at this point.

Go read the Sabres board. Someone is suggesting Dach, Reichel and the 11th (and Shaw's K) for Eichel as what they'd want. Good fun.

Is it even clear his neck injury isn't something serious?

I also think losing Shaw was very underrated. Power Play was less effective without his puck retrieval skills, and his 2 way play was never replaced this year.
