i think people are saying that they exploited a significant loophole, the way teams did with 15-year front-loaded deals, and that the loophole should be closed. - DoubleDown
And punish the teams retroactively like they did with NJ and (possibly) Nashville

You need to do it another way or change how salary is paid. Every penny of a player's salary is paid strictly for regular season play. Playoffs is just bonus money (which if in a contract for things like winning titles or Conn's need to be included in salary cap either the season they are earned or carried over to the next year). As such you can't penalize a team in the playoffs for theoretically being over a cap that doesn't exist in the playoffs - Takemedrunkimhome
When the salary is paid should be irrelevant to a playoff cap.
LTIR should not be banked. In practice it should be used as a replacement for a currently injured player.

Should? Sure. Only question that matters is how it is currently written and interpreted. It really isn't as complicated as we're making it. In life should, could and would rarely matter much |

didn't they lose a draft pick or something?
Nashville could be totally screwed if nothing changes and Weber retires with 1 or 2 years left on his contract. Hard to believe that the more of his contract he full-fills, the worse it will be for Nashville. That's just dumb - and the opposite of the way it should work

The league penalized them a 1st and then rescinded the penalty before it was applied. So nothing |
