If somebody wants to be offended they'll find a way to be offended. I think the idea of trying to appease somebody with that attitude is a fool's errand. I think there still is an accepted line for most rational people for what is/isn't offensive and using that as the standard is at least possible. One small problem is that over time it seems the latter is creeping closer to the former.
Made up words are made up words and if somebody finds that offensive then I'll accept I've become an offensive person

i meant the act of telling someone they're using a made up word is offensive.
But to the main body of your post, most still are rational in terms of knowing the line and okay with it being blurred. Certainly that will be different in 10-15 years

I watched that whole original video and he elaborates that anybody that can explain their offense is worth debate, but those who say that "I'm offended" as if it's a definitive point without any extra points is just a person without a shred of credibility.
I think this is one of the worst traps people fall into online. People allow bad ideas to get spread with lame oppositions like "that's offensive" without debate and then the people with legitimate issues on very "offensive topics" are called snowflakes for bringing them up.
