i know a lot of teams do it. pretty sure the Habs are even doing it. but Tampa was so loud and in your face about it. it's like the difference between going 110 km/h or 150 km/h in a 100 zone. at 110, it's just accepted leeway. at 150 you're looking for trouble.

In Ontario

50 km/hr over the limit and higher: Arrested for Stunt and or Speeding and or Careless Driving to name a few. Minimum $2,000 fine + 6 demerit points (G1,G2,M1& M2 is a 30 day novice driver suspension upon conviction, plus court ordered penalties)

Additional Penalties for a 50 km/hr or Higher Ticket

If you get charged at 50+ km/hr over the limit, the following penalties ensue:

Stunt Driving information, click here
You're issued a Summons to appear in court. If you fail to appear in court a warrant for your arrest can be issued
Automatic 7 day vehicle impoundment
Automatic 7 day drivers licence suspension
Minimum fine of $2,000 up to $10,000
Up to 6 months in jail, with or without the above fine
Drivers licence suspension for a 1st conviction up to 2 years
Drivers licence suspension for a 2nd conviction not more than 10 years
Massive insurance increases IF you can even get insurance

so next year Price, Matthews, McDavid and OV sit all season and come back for the playoffs?
just as for the refs and the different set of rules (regular season vs playoffs), a mickey mouse league.
no wonder they get less revenues than the other 3 pro sports.

- fidopro

Accidentally flagged but just like the 15 year contracts that were really 8 to 10 years long, you don't like it change the rules. As the rules are currently there is nothing wrong with what Tampa did

If Price sits all season long, they miss the playoffs.

Habs did something similar with Gallagher out.

it's different with Tampa because they can afford to sit these guys and still cruise to the playoffs. Oilers without McDavid are a bottom-5 team. Habs without Price miss the playoffs in the Atlantic. even the Leafs without Matthews would struggle.

it's a very unique situation. we haven't seen a team this loaded top to bottom since the pre-cap Red Wings dynasty days.

yes but Gallagher was actually injured and came back at less than 100%, as his playoff performance has shown.

meh, they definitely took advantage of salary cap liberties to a greater extent than other teams. they didn't break any rules, but it does call for certain changes

So you're ony of the few who believes in the Kucherov miracle where he was finally healthy exactly when the playoffs started. Not a week before when it would have caused cap troubles?

bin ce serait de s'assurer qu'il y a pas autant de différence entre la masse salariale de la saison régulière et celle des séries, c'est assez simple je trouve.

oh and having independent doctors to objectively evaluate players wouldn't be such a bad idea (not sure if it's already the case but I don't think so)

I just think it's sad that the Habs are this far this season and people are mad about the clouds or something

Tampa was the team to beat to start the year.

Nobody was complaining about this when the series was at 2-2

change the rule if you want but Habs used those rules to fit Caufield under the cap

I don't consider them as cheaters but they've already won the cup last year so I just want to see them fail.

People have been complaining about this for weeks.

But overall, doesn't matter. If the Habs make it to the finals, they'll have to find a way to beat Tampa, whether they are 18M over the cap or not.

Weber is the guy they would "rest" for a full season, bring him back healthy for the playoffs and gain over 7M in cap space.

i think people are saying that they exploited a significant loophole, the way teams did with 15-year front-loaded deals, and that the loophole should be closed.
