You're right. Getting a Vezina trophy finalist with a sub 2 GAA would be a horrible idea.
- Tojo.

In all honesty I think the boys (Sid, Geno, Tanger) would be hyped to have Fleury back.

Yeah Sokolov would have been a nice add instead of Blomqvist. I hate goalies before the 4th unless it’s like an absolute stud mid late 1st like Vasy and even then you could end up with a Malcom Subban.

I seen one mock draft where Detroit picks Cossa wit #6 and then picks Walstedt with #22!!!!

So Tkachuk wants out of Calgary apparently but wants to go to St Louis. Too bad because he would look outstanding in a Pens jersey.

I was never in the "bring back MAF" group. I've always felt that ship had sailed. At this point I think it's a viable option and they absolutely need to do something. I think all that Jarry hype by Burke and Hextall after the playoffs was mostly BS.

I'm certainly not against it if they can make it work, I wanted him to retire a Penguin anyway...but looking at this subjectively, why in the fvck wouldn't you want MAF on your team? Hahah

EDIT: perhaps I'm not totally capable of looking at it subjectively... Others around here are though..

You either go big with goalie and get a guy like Gibson or MAF... or you ride out the group we have. I dont think the Penguins need to blow it up and panic at goalie, but I would say to have a quality 3rd goalie. It would probably be easier to acquire him at the deadline for a late pick, but if the Penguins have a decent alternative to Jarry, theres a reasonable chance we are still playing.

You can't quantify what Tanev brings with fancy stats.

Tanev scored a goal to win a playoff game this year. How many other Pens can say that?

Same here. This is the first time I think it really makes sense if he's available.

The biggest reason the Islanders are still playing hockey is because they are a superior team to the penguins. Fixed the only sentence I read from the blog.

It was a rhetorical question. The point being we had our chances to win games and Tanev was the only man that came thru.

Sorokin got benched after one game against Boston. Now he had the back of his neck burnt when the Islanders were forced to open up their offence. He's certainly not the unbeatable goalie we thought he was. And by we, I mean you guys because I didn't feel he was that good.

Islanders defense make the “high danger zone” a tough area to play in. You may get there and get a shot. Chances are you have no room though.

Tanev and Carter both had game winning goals. And Sorokin was absolutely good against us. When Varlamov was in he didn't handle the Pens as good at all. High chance we get swept if Sorokin started all the games. Some goalies are better against certain teams.

Yes, because goalies can't be totally lights out for a few games then not for a few games..its gotta be all one way or the other all the time. When you say "you guys" do you mean most people posting here, a majorty of Isles fans and a majority of the hockey world in general thinking and saying the same thing about that series?

You can quote me Fleury's stats all you want. But the end result is always the same.
Softest possible goal at the worst possible time. As talented as he is, He ALWAYS fails to come up with the big save at some point in a playoff run. The one exception was 2009. If not for Murray in 2016 and 2017, Sid has ONE cup, and MAF has ONE cup. The sample size is large enough here. MAF will play well--very well at times. But then he will allow something soft and it will change the complexion of the entire series. No matter how well he plays in a series, he gives up a soft back breaking goal that leads to the other team winning the series. So NO, thats not something I want.
