But Marner had a good junior career, you would think Lou Lamoriello would have paid him for what he accomplished as a 17 yr old playing in London

I agree that the majority probably didn't have him scoring 40 as a rookie, but he was insanely hyped and for good reason. The only reason why he didn't get as much is because he had the misfortune of going the year after McDavid.
