I like him . I remember well back then . I asked how can you ignore a player that scored 72 goals that season and a few in here said it would not translate to NHL .

I wanted Broberg and Seider that year while everyone was mostly for forwards. I am very happy about Podk no regrets.

Same as this year I wonder about Wallstedt at 9 seeing the best forwards and D might be gone. I trust Load Man's advice seeing he is the goalie guy. He says no.

I think Clarke’s newly defined role gives him scouting input on goalie draft picks.

Fun watching the kid get more comfortable with his game. Good little player. Makes those around him better.

Who are you calling you people?

Your proposal was to send Holtby ($5.7 salary, $4.3 cap ), Virtanen ($3.4m salary, $2.55 cap), Eriksson ($4m salary, $6m cap), Lind (RFA) and Juolevi (RFA) and the 9th pick?

You can pile as much garbage on as you like, it doesn’t get any better.

That is what Carol said.

I like that they are having more than one voice. What is your opinion of Wallstedt as the other goalie guy here?

I am pretty sure we were talking about the Canucks not the Leafs.

I never said that Gillis wasn't necessary to the success in the team, I said he reaped the benefits of the GM's before him.

- manvanfan

One could argue that any regular season and playoff success that the Canucks have achieved under Benning was on the back of trades and signings that Gillis orchestrated; like goaltending as an example.

If I’m not mistaken, Ian Clark was originally brought in by Gillis but then later changed to Rollie…

Not Nighthawk. Had him going to the Oilers at 8oa.

He was never ranked in the top 10 was he? Thought he was supposed to go around 15 or so, because he was small and his game wouldn’t translate. That was the Zegras et al draft right? How many USNDP guys went in the first round!

And then he signed Larsson and Landeskog as UFA’s as well.

That has been a few times on here lately . Ek must have missed his monthly payments.

I didn’t want Caulfield at the time.

Pretty sure they were all projected top 10 picks. Caufield dropped for sure. I'm happy with the Podz selection even though a few aren't. Good for Caufield for pushing the envelope and making an impact now.

Got to say, really liking the new panel (McLean aside). They actually bring real hockey knowledge and strategy. Really helps a guy like me who has no idea about systems, or how to play a 2 on 1.

Yeah, other than that it was solid. It would be better if it was just the draft pick…

I’m not criticizing the pick Canucks made at all. I’m not trying to be all hind sightie. But Caulfield at 13, or guys like Conner, Barzal, Boeser is why I want Benning not to trade 1sts, ever, and why I wanted him to get more picks instead of doubling down.

That draft was all over the map with mostly everyone wanting forwards.

This is not a shot at anyone but no one here knows a lot about the prospects (myself included) We are watching a few videos and going by what others say. That is why I pay very little attention to who we are drafting past the first round.
