You know the premise was desperate team bargain trade. Which has happened before for far less then what was on the table.

Plus you saw the numbers crunched for that like other LTIR/buy out moves they all work. The point to counter the cap strap hell narrative is that top players can fit on the roster.

Now if they can be got is uncertain. But wasting cap on small moves and trading away top players like JTM for draft picks you call good and reasonable.

Easy to call the shots when you’ve never been in the fire. There’s a reason why he’s a tv commentator and Benning has been in scouting/management for decades.

Like a said before trades are the least likely to land top players for Canucks without losing core players. But with LTIR and buy outs they can target top UFA's. I won't be surprised if they deal a B prospect for Krak to take Holtby.

Sadly I see no moves for LE. Though, AZ was willing to take him with JV last off season for OEL, but they wanted Demko too. I don't know if they become desperate enough by draft to accept 9OA instead?

Greenway is a poor man's Tuch not worth a top 10 in any draft.
