Weird, cuz in TO Burke started, Nonis continued then they had to rebuild. It's almost like Gillis was necessary to the success but that's a horrible take!!!. Why give credit to the GM that oversaw the most successful teams in history??
- golfingsince

I am pretty sure we were talking about the Canucks not the Leafs.

I never said that Gillis wasn't necessary to the success in the team, I said he reaped the benefits of the GM's before him.

You people were laughing that Canucks didn't have assets for Schmidt trade. In this flat Cap Covid effected market $ talks.

OEL controls his destination and AZ more desperate. If a 3rd takes on $6M why wouldn't 9OL for $10M(8 cap)? AZ gets two high drafted prospects as sweeteners for 1 year of less actual money then OEL for 3 players they can play or bury.

Again, it would be in concert for some Sedinery Swede swaying.

The Leafs are an easy target. We're talking about where our current GM ranks among his peers all-time. It's not flattering.....

Fun watching the kid get more comfortable with his game. Good little player. Makes those around him better.

Burke started, Nonis continued, Gillis reaped. Sound good?

To cross reference I used another team where the first two were employed....nobody reaped.

It's great that you backtracked on your statements from earlier but it doesn't make them any more accurate than your typing.

Cool, a GM makes some good selections in the draft. If he can't surround them with proper talent to succeed then he probably needs to be replaced. JB has one year at this stage to get it right, maybe he'll get lucky and be given another year. If another GM comes in and builds a contender it certainly won't be because of JB. It will be because they're able to add the missing pieces. I would certainly hope that 8 years of drafting adds some talent to the equation, especially when finishing bottom 5 most of those years.

I like him . I remember well back then . I asked how can you ignore a player that scored 72 goals that season and a few in here said it would not translate to NHL .

I wanted Broberg and Seider that year while everyone was mostly for forwards. I am very happy about Podk no regrets.

Same as this year I wonder about Wallstedt at 9 seeing the best forwards and D might be gone. I trust Load Man's advice seeing he is the goalie guy. He says no.

Who are you calling you people?

Your proposal was to send Holtby ($5.7 salary, $4.3 cap ), Virtanen ($3.4m salary, $2.55 cap), Eriksson ($4m salary, $6m cap), Lind (RFA) and Juolevi (RFA) and the 9th pick?

You can pile as much garbage on as you like, it doesn’t get any better.
