Nah no hope of that. Heads in the sand cuz the game is played on paper or it was the goalie was hot or or or ad nauseum...
- Nighthawk

Yeah a hot goalie in the playoffs is never the reason for a team's success... especially for the Habs.

It's a team game and Price is just another player.

Not watching the game tonight, nor am I going to backread, unless I get really drunk, but, I was assured by almost all of you, that I was totally wrong about my picking of Montreal as a strong team this year.
I guess all I can say is, you guys don't really understand the importance of acquisitions of Edmondson, to solidify an already solid defense of Weber, Chariot and an extremely underrated defenseman in Petry.
Solid, world class goaltender from Price, also helps, as does a very underrated, Nick Suzuki..

Gloating is fun.😁

Yeah good for you. I remember the outrage when you said it and found it hilarious.

Not blaming MAF but I was surprised he started
- VANTEL

Me too. Figured they could play the hot hand, and go back to MAF in game 6 if needed.

I’m not opposed to trading down if there are guys you like just as much later on, but typically the best players go earlier than later. I trust that the scouting team knows who they want.

Trading down just happens so infrequently that I don’t expect it will happen.

And I know how triggered all you slurpers get whenever anyone mentions Drance, but he posted an article a while ago, or mentioned one that someone else wrote about all the trade downs in recent history. Almost all of them were worse off than if they had just kept their original pick.

- 1970vintage

Ya I think I posted that over here. More often than not it's not a good idea to trade down. It can work out, but most of the time you're best off sticking with your pick.

There's not a team in the north who's fans weren't concerned with play outside the division.

However, MTL fans understood Price was the great equalizer. At least they understand their goalie is the reason for their success. It's not like Price steals games and they think they're winning because they have a superior roster.

Their future looks bright. What could possibly change?

Drance only proved other GM’s got no game. So how do players fall & then fans fawn all over them or whine how they fell? Pastrnak etc

When will Drance explain 3-1st rounds whiffs by Sweeney?

Did Drance do a 2021 prospects ranking?

I heard it on the podcast. Can’t remember if it was him or Dyal who did the research. There were a couple examples of a team making out better, but certainly not the norm.

Right here
But to be fair I said the leafs would get steamrolled. Never in my wildest dreams did I see leafs not making the final four.

In this situation I’m happy to be wrong.

- bloatedhefty

Mighty big of you bro 👍

Tbh I was not bullish on any team but I liked Jets to be the team that would do damage.

Good on you. I still don’t believe they are a very good team but my prediction was certainly awful. Sometimes average teams do great things. Nice to have Price and a pretty good D

He’s not a prospects guy. He’s not a scout. He doesn’t need to explain why GM’s are dum-dums. He just pointed out in the times that actual teams traded down they were worse off in most cases. This suggests that generally speaking, trading down is a bad idea.

The new GM came in and added 2 top 4 D, a 3C and a top 6 winger or two among others. Imagine what our team now would look like with that?

Oh right, they'd also be a contender.

There's always someone that starts something somewhere. It's weird that you give YZerman little credit for Tampa .........

Sure, Benning is the greatest!!! That's why we'll need another GM to come in and finish what he started. Picking top 10 every year has nothing to do with actually sucking every year. Complete coincidence.

- golfingsince

Again, where do you get this poop.

Exactly how much credit do I give Yzerman in Tampa Bay?

You know honestly nothing about what I've said or think, yet you seem to think you know everything.

Re-reading this, what the (frank) are you even going on about anymore? Are you going to rage quit soon because that would be great.

I'd actually be pretty happy is I was a Habs fan. They have a bunch of young guys getting playoff experience.

Yeah, they have some key players aging but they also have a ton of draft picks coming. Their top forwards aside from Gallagher are all under 25. They just need another goalie

Going the odds is risky but smart GM’s in any league aren’t the norm & that is what makes them stand out.

I gotcha but it’s a too sterile take. All it says is poor execution of the trade down.

They just compiled the history of trade downs and showed that it didn't work out more than it did work out. Not like it was their opinion.

Yeah, again, I’m not opposed to it if the scouts have a guy (or a few) that they like as much later in the round, and it gets them an additional pick. I wouldn’t move down 10 spots for a 5th rounder or something, but if they went from 9 to 13 and got an extra pick around 30-35 that could be worth it.

One GM will look smart in trading up to grab their guy though.

I prefer GM’s had a plan in place that was executed properly. Fell in luv with more chances is tantamount to playing 6/49 more the better your odds get.
