Thanks man but at the end of the day i'm just like one of you guys. Wether I was good at hockey or not 30 years ago in inconsequential. I'm not sure why I busted that out except I guess I needed to say I understood what elite goaltending meant.

It is what it is, i'm pretty sure we all understand how goaltending can change a team's fortunes during the playoffs.

I want a Dman that can control the play at both ends of the ice, the closest we've come to that IMO is Ohlund.

Once we have that, we'll be in a better position to win it all than we've ever been.

I know Jones can fill that but he may not want the Canucks. Does OEL fill that?

Plus are you not high on MdP, cause you never shot down trading him out for a cap dump sweetner post.

Totally agree how a rock on D can solidify a team & the overall impact he adds.

surprised you made it work cap-wise without a Holtby buyout, I like it

Ok here goes...

Dvorak/Kessel/2nd for LE/1st/Roussel

Get a very good youngish 3C.
Kessel only 1 year left & better add than LE.
Extra cap from Roussel helps get a UFA RHD.

It’s only a quick rough trade idea

Miller Petey Boeser
Pearson Bo Pod
Hog Dvorak Kessel

- Nighthawk

Rouss can join the LTIR retirement squad. If that 1st is 9OA or not lotto protected looks like an overpayment. I see no domino effect here.

Possibly slight problem, that it's only a 21 man roster with less cap space than Min amount of a contract.

There have been some less in inspiring goaltenders win Stanley Cups but when is the last time a less than inspiring 1C won a cup?

Ryan O'Reilly? Still pretty damn good player. Andy McDonald? Ducks 06'

Just looking at all of the past Conn Smyth winners.

https://www.nhl.com/news/...complete-list/c-287709808

Since 2000, the winners by position are:

Centre - 7
Winger - 3
D-man - 5
Goaltender - 5

Not very scientific but it kind of shows player impact during playoffs.

I’m sorry, your magic math might work, but real math still says no.

You do realize that if that a player gets injuried that they would have to play a man short for more than just the rest of the next game. That's why team cap goes to a 23 man roster. Maybe get away with 22. 21 stretching it. You still 388K and change short from that.

GmJB should blow all our minds and trade up into the top 3 and then turnaround and trade down a few picks with another team , and still get his guy😃

I don’t like picking a goalie in the 1st round. Goalies are voodoo. That being said, if it’s a weak draft and their options aren’t great, he might be more of a sure thing than the skaters he’s projected around.
- Shuswap Wap

That is where I was going with that.

there were a few guys in here who claimed that, wonder if they'll man up and eat some crow. We were told that the North winner would get bullied and beaten up by the big scary Murican teams

Same as out here . Not golfing but out by the water. Took our five month granddaughter for he first trip to the lake.

This weather snuck up fast. Two weeks ago it was definitely not hot enough for the pool or beaches.
