So the Wednesday announcement was actually a Tuesday announcement as the Sedin's joining as special advisors to the General Manager.

At least they will get to talk to Petey about signing a good contract that will help the team remain out of cap troubles.

Ok. I thought you were referring to Kotkaniemi, who is also referred to as KK.
It didn't make sense until now.
BTW, I get confused easily

Where does it say in the announcement that they will have anything to do with contract negotiations?

Yorky... it might be time for a logoff. Maybe take a few days to refresh your material. It's been over a year of the same lame insults.

I am okay with a trade down this year, if the 3 defenseman, Power Edvinsson Clarke and centreman McTavish are off the board.
Cole Sillinger would be a nice addition to the prospect pool.

- Reubenkincade

I think there will be a few good picks that’ll drop down maybe as far as 14th. Also teams with multiple picks might jump the line if their guy is there.

Clarke falling to 9 would be amazing, assuming he's on Benning's list of 9

If Kent Johnson is there at 9, I can't see Benning passing him up. Kid is super talented.
Don't see him making it past Columbus though.

It doesn't. What's been reported is they'll be heavily involved in Abby and Player Development. What's also been said by JB is that they'll take part in all aspects of hockey operations.

Its common for advisors to be "in the room" for trades and drafting. Contract negotiating is less hands on and directly agent focused. Though, nothing stopping management to let a player know their plan and team direction.

It comes down to the player(s) JB is keying on in the 9th range. Imo a GM should always have options ready whether used or not is all.

Hypothetically you sign an AHL starter. Would this AHL starter someone you want to possibly play NHL games next season if need be? Does that help the Canucks at all?

What about the season after what happens. You don't have Holtby as a back up anymore if he isn't taken in the e-draft. Too which you then are going to need an NHL back up goalie plus another AHL goalie this season. Which again you're going to need another two goalies the season after because I highly doubt Silovs is ready.

Goalies don't exactly grow on trees like the Sea of Granlunds.

- manvanfan

Ya, because in that situation you are looking for an AHL lifer to be your #1 in the AHL.......

There are always NHL backup quality goalies that sign and play in the NHL.

"Over the past 20 years, there have been 37 GMs in the NHL with tenures lasting seven or more years.
It’s very rare for a GM to last that long with a sub-.500 record in the regular season as Benning has. In fact, just two GMs with 7+ years on the job have worse records than Benning.

Those two GMs? Mike Milbury and Doug MacLean."
