the ny islanders are taking the greatest team since the edmonton oilers to game 7 of the eastern conference finals...

after letting their only #1 overall pick walk...and that includes drafting the likes of g. reinhart michael del colle in the top-5 and trading nino niederreiter

- Michael Pachla

They're also run by the perhaps the greatest hockey executive in history. The Sabres are run by...

I hear you 39, but even getting those players doesn't guarantee anything. I doubt they would do it, but say with LA or Columbus loosing out on Eichel they turn there attention to Rhino, see if you can get next years 1st instead of this year's.
- Buff36

Trying to read the chatter out there, my guess is the Sabres will be picking 1st, 3rd, and 8th in this draft.

So are you for moving 9/23/55? If so are you looking for hockey or futures trades?
- washedup20

i'm not doing anything...however it sure looks as if at least two of three are on the move...

for me talent without a defined style of play and structure with proper supporting cast = the buffalo sabres post-tank

If he comes back next game, he won't be 100%.
Back injuries usually take a while to heal properly.

- Garfield512

take him out...not only is that playoff hockey, but the turd deserves it for all the dirty hits he's gotten away with over the years

A lot of Dman could be on the market, could really affect what goes on with Risto. Still think Winnipeg takes a look or a package deal with Rhino maybe to Calgary could work.

I noticed you put eichel on par with matthews as well, which you didn't do in the past

solid post

- homiedclown

Before this year I would have had Eichel rated higher slightly.

Matthews took another step this year on both the defensive and offensive side.

Auston needs to figure out the playoffs though

I think you can even abstract up and say that at the highest level of management with the team, there's been no vision for more than a decade. That's a big reason why the team is consistently bad.

Yes, I have heard some of the same stuff, just think if Vegas looses tonight, they will come in hard on Eichel. Heard they have already called a couple times.

Theodore is about to turn 26.

My point is are you trying to be a playoff team next year or is the plan to be bad again at least for next year?

I have a feeling Cossa will be off the board before the Vegas pick.

- kingcong39

d men usually peak around 28 though, so he could get even better

Despite I'm sure not agreeing with some of the moves he would make, how much confidence would we all feel if Lou was running the show for the Sabres? A poop ton is the answer.

Vegas is going full bore after Eichel even if they win the cup. It's their style to always go big and figure out the ramifications later.

underrated band...the mike ness snarl and attitude on that album is as good as anything johnny rotten did and their hard-edged, driving, power-guitar musicianship is as good as the clash on london calling

theodore-dahlin
power-joker

if you get the right addition with theodore

and a decent return up front for risto and reinhart

they could be ready in 22-23 to compete

there is a lot of middle 6 pieces already in place for the team

it's that top end center and winger that will be missing and no clue if quinn, cozens, casey or r2d2 could fill any of those spots or if they are just middle 6 guys as well

Leon is far better than Eichel, and it’s not even close. He’s up there with mcD and mcK.

I would take Mathews 10/10 times over Eichel too. But Jack is prob right in the tier behind those guys if he could actually stay healthy

- Fattony1187

Leon doesn’t play defence at all though. He grades out as one of the worse defensive forwards in the league. So I think that nullifies the additional offence he brings over Eichel and makes it a toss up.

Matthews took another step this year and was absolutely fantastic. I won’t argue having him ranked ahead of Eichel but their analytics have been damn near even the entire time both have been in the league together apart from this year which I think Eichel deserves a mulligan.

I believe all 3 of those players are a choose your flavour of the week in terms of who is better and I won’t argue order. Just thought I’d delve into my thought process on it.
