So basically if you can at least make the playoffs and play really good hockey you could win more games then you can lose.
I feel like I have heard this before...every offseason. |

After the OT getting into the POs, slaying Brodeur in round 1, coming back 0-3 on Boston, and then having the Habs knock out the Pens for them... Pronger, Leighton, Briere/Hartsy/Leino, G blowing up, it kind of felt like everything was lining up and they were destined to win.
Was more devastating than 97, IMO, even though they weren't as talented. - Tomahawk
Yes. Agree. That team definitely over played and it looked like lightning in a bottle. Even tho they didn’t win it was a magical 2 months |

This is the exact reason why I just want the Flyers to make the playoffs every year. You just don't know what's going to happen in them.

There was really a feeling that they could overcome anything... so no surprise that they forced OT in game 6... and game 7 felt inevitable.
That Kane goal was about as shocking as the cut to black in the last episode of The Sopranos. |

Do you think he actually believes the stuff he writes or is it just a gimmick? In his eyes the NHL should be played as a rotisserie fantasy league, whoever finishes with the best possession and expected goals wins the cup. - ClaudeFather
A little of both I think. Weird guy. |

Rewatching the Sopranos now, the cut to black really didn’t bother me that much. Not to say it was a great ending but I didn’t think it ended badly. |

I think Montreal has looked awesome, Their D doesn't let anyone close.....they are playing fantastic. - bradster
I can't believe how sound their game is right now
It's a complete team effort from one player all of the way through the line up. Price is his epic self and Suzuki and caufield are playing at an elite level already.
I'm a fan of them. I won't lie |

I'm actually a big fan of that ending.
Was talking more about the unexpected/abrupt nature of it.
And rewatching The Sopranos is always awesome |

And every time I hear someone say "You never know, anything can happen" I cringe. I feel like I should carry Captain Obvious stickers with me. The fact is there are exceptions for EVERYTHING. You can also win with the worst hand in poker too, but that doesn't mean you play it every time you get it because someone won with it once. |

3-2 does not sound like dominance to me, in either direction ...
😉 - PT21
Then you haven’t watched the games. Simple eye test, not Corsi, not analytics , they want it more. Every shift they play hard. Don’t care about where the face off is, who has a righthanded shot playing on the off wing blah blah blah. They are the better team in this series |

I regularly re-watch the Sopranos and the Wire. The ending to the Sopranos bothered me when it happened, but I actually like that they did it that way now. |

The Wire is also awesome
Deadwood, Generation Kill and season 1 of True Detective are also great to rewatch. HBO really had a great thing going for awhile. |

It’s all about heart & grit with Montreal & the Flyers have none of that
-Fopa21
Its this plus Montreal has speed that can smother teams, and they have a strong system that the players have bought into. Our Flyers lack toughness that is for sure, but they sorely lack speed and I think last year they had too many players not bought into the AV's system, which I think made the biggest difference. |

One thing that really is benefitting Montreal in the playoffs is they have players that don't need as much practice time as others in the league to know how to play hockey.

That Kane goal was devastating. I was just in utter disbelief. I couldnt help but just stand there staring blankly at the TV

I hope both series go to seven games. Game 7’s are highly entertaining when it isn’t your team in it.

I recall a poster a few months back, claiming that practice time was all that our team needed.

The Flyers are actually a better team than Montreal and the Flyers will be just fine If they spend the summer trying to acquire the best goaltending that they possibly can. |

Flyers will just be looking for a good backup goalie. Hart is the starter.

we can look at the Flyers beating Montreal last year and how the regular season records were close but does that really mean anything? Montreal is having a great run and has a real good chance to make it to the Finals where anything can happen. We can argue how Montreal is getting it done but the question really should be is that sustainable? Do you want to be a team that just makes a run at it for one season? I guess if you win it all, hell yea. Otherwise, don't you want to strive to be a top team that has a significant open window over a significant period of time? To give yourself more opportunity? It is incredibly hard to win the Cup. Things have to go right, stay relatively injury free and have some luck on your side even if you build a top team. |

Backread pho pho. The post you were responding to was a joke to a joke. Before that I agreed with what you said (which is that Habs were far from dominated in this series) |

The conflation by so many of "anything can happen" and "everything is equally likely to happen" is one of my biggest peeves. |
