I can't confidently say that, no. Intriguing to ponder though... My gut tells me Jakey is gonna look real good next season, and I'm not in the want to trade him camp, but getting a player like Tkachuck is what everyone wants....and is only 23... and RFA...

Idk it seems like a lateral move. He wasn't really known as a playoff performer for Calgary and was criticized last offseason for being easily knocked off the puck...it doesn't really seem like who we are looking to add this offseason. I think Tkachuk is definitely a player we would like to add. Same with Bertuzzi from the Redwings if he ever became available. I just think they fit the bill of players who would bring a different element to the team.

I think Jani Hakanpaa, Travis Hamonic, Jamie Oleksiak, Ryan Getzlaf, Blake Coleman, Matthew Tkachuk, Dustin Brown, Gabriel Landeskog, Dougie Hamilton could all be targets they look at. The last two are long shots.

It all depends on how Hextall operates. I would love to see him pull something as we discussed last offseason with Pietrangelo. Signing Hamilton and trading Marino and Pettersson to make room for his salary. Same with Landeskog. If we lost Zucker or Pettersson in the expansion draft, and he used a portion of the saved money to make a big splash in free agency it could be a good retool option. He could then move Rust or Guentzel for young players/prospects and cap space. The more realistic would be sign some bigger/tougher players. Also I could see him trading for players him and Burke are familiar with. Which is why I put Tkachuk and Brown as names above.
