Why do people still Johnny Gaudreau Johnny Hockey? What makes him so special from all the other hockey players that are WAY better than him. There are many more players that represent hockey better than he does.

Sometimes I question whether Gaudreau plays like s**t on purpose, anytime he gets separated from Monahan. If he's trying to "coach" the team by forcing the coaches hand, that sure as hell isn't going to fly with Sutter.
If we're not rebuilding, re-tooling is obviously on the table - but we should think of it as morphing the team. We got Gaudreau for basically nothing. If we get Hall for nothing, we're set on LW - so why not use Gaudreau as trade bait to get a key piece like Eichel? It would be interesting to see if Eichel-Hall could make it work in Calgary with a competent line-up & back end. Very high risk considering the Eichel injury.
I don't even know why Buffalo does this, considering Gaudreau has 1 year left before he's a UFA. I'd have to assume CGY's 12th overall is the centerpiece to the trade, throw in Pelletier/Zary/Valimaki and it looks very similar to the CGY-CAR deal featuring Hamilton for Lindholm/Hanifin. |

NHL level defensemen. If we lose Gio to Seattle, he'll re-sign in CGY as a UFA in a year, and it's very possible that Dumba signs in Calgary as a UFA at the same time (he's a CGY kid & was training in CGY prior to the pandemic in the off-season). That said, Valimaki+Kylington are very much expendable |

There really aren't that many players that have put up 99+ recently (last full NHL season)
Offensively the guy is up there for sure...I don't think he has ever played with a real top end center either. Like someone else said I would want Eichel to play with Gaudreau |
