I also read O’Connor’s analysis of Sanheim’s upcoming contract. What I find interesting is a similar player like Cernak on Tampa signed for 2.9M x 3 in December. He plays the same minutes as Sanheim but is much more physical and somewhat better IMO. Seems like the constant contenders like Tampa, Boston, Caps, etc always get the hometown discount. This doesn’t happen with the Flyers. - Djapana
But its actually not the same. Cernaks contract is his first post entry level deal which ends with him still an RFA. Sanheim's deal is his second post entry level deal and will take him in to UFA status. |

Exactly. Buying UFA years cost more.

Does Hakstol take his “3rd place in a tough metro” division banner with him to Seattle? |

Flyers have about $13 million in cap space.
RFA's this summer:
Sanheim($3.25 cap hit last season)
Hart($700,000 last season)
Elliiot or another backup($1.5 last season)
Nolan Patrick($900,000 last season)
There are others like Morin, Twarynski, and Bunnaman, etc...
Although taking JVR in the expansion draft is possible, there is no word on who Seattle will take. Just speculation based on JVR's term, cap hit, age, production, etc.... |

Between Sanheim, Hart, Patrick and your backup G, that's pretty much all your $13M in cap space.
Hak seemed pretty fond of Robert Hagg. Hagg the Kraken! 😎

I think there will be some left over for that. All Patrick is going to get is a one year deal on a Q. Sanheim probably between 4 and 5. Hart will be less than 4. 2M for a backup. Might be a mil or so left over. |

Should be plenty left over.
Sanheim - 4 mill
Hart - 1.5 mill. After the season he had you cant give him more than 2 mill IMO
NoPa - 900k
Backup G - 1 to 1.5 mill
Still 5.1 mill left + Whatever Vegas takes:
Ghost: 4.5 mill
JVR: 7 mill
Voracek: 8 Mill
Braun: 1.8 mill
Hagg: 1.6 Mill
Honestly yea the Cap hits big but JVR and Voracek are good players. I find it hard to imagine Seattle wouldnt grab one of them if exposed. I dont expect you are going to see any players of that caliber available. |

|
I don't know what Hart is going to get.
Last season was bad, but negotiations will consider all 3 years he played in the NHL.
2018/19: 2.83 .917%
2019/20 2.42 .914% Playoffs: 2.23 .914%
2020/21 3.67 .877% |

MJL's numbers seem much more realistic.
There's talk of guys like Johansen, Duchene, Kuznetsov, Tarasenko and Palat possibly being available. And they have the cap-space to compete for UFAs like RNH, Landeskog, Krejci, Saad, Hoffman, Hyman, Palmieri, etc.
There really shouldn't be too much pressure to take Jake or JVR, given their options. |

What is it looks more and more likely that JVR gets selected by Seattle in the expansion draft based on ?
The flat cap may keep salaries down but if they're going to play for 4M why will they choose the Flyers?
If Larsson and Savard are signed and Gostisbehere is traded then the Flyers have an issue with the PP. - MJL
More and more publications, like the hockey writers and the athletic, are pointing to JVR as the one to be unprotected and selected, and really it makes the most sense for the Flyers. Its up to Fletcher to sell any FA on the Flyers, based on the players, the young talent, and most importantly his plan. It true these players can go anywhere, but why not the Flyers. The are a franchise committed to winning, they have a HOF coach and two prior head coaches as assistants, and they have some young players in Hart, Farabee and hopefully York that will be something. And they also what a lot of other teams don't have, cap space. As far as the PP, why not see if York can handle it. He really looks to be able to QB it pretty well. |

I estimate Hart will get about $2.75M for a 2 year bridge deal. This is comparable to other goalies with his stats, age and experience. |

I think the Fletcher should play it hard with Sanheim, he really does not deserve a raise after the season he just had, and has yet to even reach 30 points in a season. I would sign him on a 1 year prove it deal, same as Patrick. |

the problem is hes still a top 4 dman, but maybe he'll be part of a package for jones. I also think Ghost can be traded, and i hope seattle doesnt take him so they can trade him. Someone will want a pp qb. They dont grow on trees. Might not be much of a return, but if you could get a 2nd or 3rd for him, then flip that to seattle to take jake or jvr, now we are getting somewhere

Seeing the size of these Dmen, makes me think flyers have to keep Morin. Is he our only guy over 200lbs. These montreal guys are 220- 235 lol |

I'm so glad that the Flyers passed on taking a scrub like Cole Caufield. That kid that plays with tremendous heart and scores and sets up goals in the playoffs is NOT what the Flyers need. Nope. Not at all.

It’s not hindsight because on draft night majority were very vocal about picking Caulfield. |

We knew it then and we're proved correct today. I'm NOT a hindsight is 20/20 kind of person. I'm not. But when so many of us (me included) were screaming from the rooftops to take the kid, and when everyone that knew him and played with him said "all he does is score goals", it's hard to figure out how they passed on him. Of course, the Flyers would have probably buried him in the AHL so it's a moot point. |

I was in the scream for Cole corner but was fine with York pick. York is gonna be a very good pp1 qb and responsible dman. Cole could be another debrincat who knows. And we got brink too. But what we see with Cole is speed AND skill is deadly |

well thats what TK was supposed to be, and we needed a D. It made sense at the time. I wouldve been fine either way, i wasnt sure what he could do at his size. Its rare
