No it doesn't. Tony D has gone through several NHL organizations already. He's a locker room cancer. No way am I bringing that into a locker room, especially after last season.

It's an expansion team. Expectations will be low. Vegas was an anomaly. Hakstol makes a little sense to start with.
- Pelle31Forever

They were looking at Tocchet too, so seems they're looking for more of a mentor type. Could signal that they plan on going young and play the long game.

Either that or they plan to make point shots the focus of their offensive attack plan

The Flyers have $13M in cap space currently according to cap friendly, and it looks more and more likely JVR gets selected by Seattle in ED, thus this give the Flyers $20M to work this off season. They have to give new contracts to Hart (projected $2.75M) and Sanheim (projected $3M) since they are RFAs, so that gives the Flyers about $14M to spend, before even potentially trading Ghost and others. This means the Flyers can sign a few FAs. Three FAs that are projected to make about $4M per are Saad, Adam Larsson and David Savard. I think all 3 would be very good additions to this team, and fill a few holes around speed and toughness. They should still then have enough to sign a veteran backup goalie. I would be happy with this result.
- jd250

No way Sanheim takes a pay cut. His cap hit will be between 4.5 and 6 depending on the years. 2 years takes him right up to UFA status.

Yes, definitely happy for him, he seemed like a nice guy, just as you said clueless on how to coach in the NHL. To his credit he got into a coaching development program one summer after he got fired and has been an assistant in Toronto, so maybe he is truly ready for the job.
- jd250

Just as I said? I did not say he was clueless on how to coach in the NHL. I don't agree with that characterization.

I think Vegas and now Seattle are getting too sweet of a deal. Expansion teams should have to work their way up to cup contention, I don't think it's a good look to have an expansion team in the finals in their first year.
- backfire

The owners are giving 500B to the league, I think they should be able to field a competitive team from the start unlike Columbus, Atlanta etc..

Hak didn't hire any assistant coaches, unless a few weeks with Rick Wilson (after Murph was fired a day after Hexy) counts. Nearly hired another previously but it didn't work out. All of Hak's assistants here were selected by Hexy.
- bmeltzer

it was a joke as Murphy was Ronald's rat fink snitch.

Racist lol. How so?
- hello it's me 2050

He made an ethnic slur to a teammate in Sarnia (who has long since forgiven him, and the two are friends). Not sure exactly what prompted the incident with the Rangers.

DeAngelo's temper and tendency to speak first and think later has gotten him in trouble. I don't personally care about his politics, which are his own business, but would prefer he keep that to himself.

It is a red flag, hockey wise, that he's looking for his fourth NHL organization but he seemed to have broken through in 2019-20 before everything fell apart with him and the Rangers.

Michael Del Zotto's NHL career was in severe jeopardy when the Flyers took a chance on him in 2014. He paid dividends at times during his three seasons here (although you had to take the good with the bad sometimes with his game) and rebuilt a career to some degree, albeit as a journeyman.

The whole junior thing has been blown out of proportion, horrible thing to do but you’re telling me every teenager hasn’t said something stupid that if under a microscope would be scrutinized?

He isn't any angel. Ethnic slur is diff than a racist slur. Also not the person being portrayed. If he was a democrat and supported their policies or spoke out in favor of them no one would say a word. We both know this to be the case. I could care less what a players political stance is currently.

I take MDZ back over Hagg easily. Had nice solid year for Columbus. He was used properly.

It wasn't a great situation or acceptable. But the teammate forgave him and considered it over and done with. DeAngelo was legitimately contrite and apologized profusely on his own. They resumed a friendship.

Well it was kind of a racial slur, too, depending on how you define the term. The ex-teammate is of a minority background, especially within hockey, and what DeAngelo did was uncool. But that's water under the bridge.

I also read O’Connor’s analysis of Sanheim’s upcoming contract. What I find interesting is a similar player like Cernak on Tampa signed for 2.9M x 3 in December. He plays the same minutes as Sanheim but is much more physical and somewhat better IMO. Seems like the constant contenders like Tampa, Boston, Caps, etc always get the hometown discount. This doesn’t happen with the Flyers.

Not that it makes this any less heinous in nature, but The Post has learned that the slur he directed at a Caucasian teammate was ethnic in nature, not related to race.

Yep over and done with.

Caucasian in skin color, yes, but there are other ways that some define the terms race and racial minorities. The other Sarnia player involved has never wanted the story to be public and to say any more here would narrow it down the identity to one player on the team. The big thing is that it's water under the bridge.

While you are in the mood to answer some questions, how about a few more.

1. Do you see or have any indication the Flyers have interest in Kuemper from Arizona?

2. What market, if any, is there for Ghost? What teams do you think may have interest?

3. Any college free agents that the flyer have interest in? Any out there who may pull a Wyatt that the flyers could pursue?

Thanks.
