There is a lot of luck involved.

If not the best teams would win every year.

The NBA is a good example of the best teams winning most often than not...in the NHL there's a solid chance Ottawa would have made it to the the conference finals at least in the North...Which is sad to think about.

In what sport does a team like the NJD make the finals and miss the next year? Or the Sens go on a deep run and miss?

Uh, yeah. But Leafs are exciting to watch and have superstars.

NHL allowing hooking, cross checks, their biggest stars to get mugged is such a horrible direction in terms of markertng

Matthews signed a 5 year extension, Ovechkin signed a 13 year extension.

Well there is a method to winning, specially in the NHL. Its been shown time and time again, sure there are outliers that occur, but that gonna happen.

Will having 40m tied to 4 forwards who are all kinda soft, except maybe JT be an outlier one day...dunno. But so far its been a complete failure

Your argument is essentially, 1) there are no keys to winning a Cup, and 2)you also need to get really lucky to win a Cup.

Ultimately, you have absolutely NOTHING to say about hockey.
