Just stay the course, and it’ll work out eventually.
- Steven_Seagull

By “stay the course” you mean don’t make the changes that you want? The problem with that approach is that most of your suggestions have been terrible.

Since eliminating the leafs....theyve been one of the best teams in the playoffs.
that's all that matters.
Reg season best team doesnt mean sh1t

- Fakepartofme

Habs are 12-5 in the playoffs. It must be luck.

Not until Delta is under control. Last I saw, the R was still above 1
- Canada Cup

Are you talking specifically about Delta reproduction rates, or general?

General, it's .78

TB will scorch MTL.

Price will forget how to play hockey.

MTL fans will burn down their city worse than the Nucks did.(Last night was a pathetic example of what is to come win or lose)

- Santo_44

This is what would be rational, however nothing has been rational with the Habs this season.

Letting Marner be exposed for the expansion draft would be hilarious. That’s worth it enough for me.

Cinderella was a made up fairy tale. The Habs were lucky to beat the Leafs. It could have gone either way. That happens. They took advantage and rolled the Jets and now the just clearly outplayed one of the best teams in the league over a very real series.
- Canada Cup

Yup.

People get bent out of shape when you say the best team doesn't necessary win the cup.

The cup is the goal obviously, but TB is the best team and it might happen 2 years in a row which os a 1st in hockey in cap era IMO.

this is correct,
Reg season is played to get into the playoffs and determine who wins meaningless crappy NHL awards, for all intents and purposes they are glorified scrimmages.

Yeah, specifically for for the Delta variant which had has been growing faster. I know it’s easier to tie opening to vaccinations and they’re key but getting that variant under control is the biggie.

How can you even say this? LOU is a friggin proven winner. Dubas has proved to be a loser. How can you defend what history has shown us is a mistake? I was worried about Lou as he has aged, and yes some of the contracts are questionable, but at least he knows how to construct an NHL hockey team. DUBAS MUST GO.
- Hockey_Reverend

By this point in his career, Lou was a proven loser as well. Do you see how stupid of a label that is or do I need to continue?

(frank) Dubas. Trade Marner. Give us Barabbas.
- Steven_Seagull

I knew you would disapprove but it sure seems like the secret sauce is wardrobe related. I mean the talking heads on CBC seem to feel the need to mention the 'lucky red suit' all the time...

For me (and I guess some other Leaf fans) the Habs continuing to win and now making the finals is like the scab (that started to heal over the Leafs being Leafy and getting knocked out in the 1st round ((again)) being ripped off time and time again.

I can not cheer for the Habs, I just can't bring myself to do it and have a hard time believing many fans of the Habs would be cheering for the Leafs if the roles were reversed - at least that's what I tell myself.

I 100% can not get behind the whole "Canada's Team" narrative either - this isn't an international event for god sakes.

I also hate the thought of the Islanders fans running around in here trolling how they won without JT and don't need Pajama boy etc.

This might be the first time in my life I just want the NHL season to end as quickly as possible.

I don't like Tampa and their cap circumventing ways but I think they are the horse I have to hope wins the race now.

FML - god dammed Maple Leaves.

Age doesn't really matter all of that much... Tyler Toffoli won the Cup when he was 22 and thought it would be easy to win again.. It's not easy.. Leafs just need to make some small adjustments to get the right mix of players..
- PatC80

They are boxed in by their salary structure and consequently limited to signing castoffs like Jimmy Vesey. And Jack Campbell....really??

Do you think we’re having this conversation if Galchenyuk doesn’t turn the puck over and the Leafs somehow get past Vegas?

This would have had a lot more merit if you didn't try to lump Campbell into the 'signing castoffs' category.

I wasn't. I was implying that he is not a goaltender that will bring this team close to anything. There are more than "minor adjustments" required.
