I knew you would disapprove but it sure seems like the secret sauce is wardrobe related. I mean the talking heads on CBC seem to feel the need to mention the 'lucky red suit' all the time...
For me (and I guess some other Leaf fans) the Habs continuing to win and now making the finals is like the scab (that started to heal over the Leafs being Leafy and getting knocked out in the 1st round ((again)) being ripped off time and time again.
I can not cheer for the Habs, I just can't bring myself to do it and have a hard time believing many fans of the Habs would be cheering for the Leafs if the roles were reversed - at least that's what I tell myself.
I 100% can not get behind the whole "Canada's Team" narrative either - this isn't an international event for god sakes.
I also hate the thought of the Islanders fans running around in here trolling how they won without JT and don't need Pajama boy etc.
This might be the first time in my life I just want the NHL season to end as quickly as possible.
I don't like Tampa and their cap circumventing ways but I think they are the horse I have to hope wins the race now.

What's the frequency, Jimmy? He said that Leafs are the best....

I wasn't. I was implying that he is not a goaltender that will bring this team close to anything. There are more than "minor adjustments" required. - fifty__missions
Oh. I haven't seen enough from him to really commit to that one one way or another.
I haven't seen the longevity to say he can, but I sure haven't seen anything else that says he can't. 🤷🏻♂️
Campbell was the last problem this year. |

Since eliminating the leafs....theyve been one of the best teams in the playoffs.
that's all that matters.
Reg season best team doesnt mean sh1t - Fakepartofme
When I'm talking about "best" team I take the entirety of the NHL season - regular and post - in totality to figure out who is/was the "best".
If the Habs win the Cup, they're the champions. But I'd even leave "best" of the post-season up to debate. You'd have to weight each round and each opponent and go from there.
Sometimes teams get lucky. 🤷

The amount of times I've heard people on here saying all that counts is a cup win it would be very hypocritical...so I am expecting it - Santo_44
Ultimately, the only thing that matters is a Cup win. It just doesn't necessarily make you the "best" team in the league when you win it -- that's reductive silliness.
Having said that, losing in the Cup final means Richard all in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't mean you're the "2nd best" team either. You lost, who cares.
Would have been more fun to watch the Leafs make it a few rounds instead of choking once again, but whatever. |

Habs last 2 Cups you could say they were lucky. Well I think they were. 1986 and 1993. They avoided playing the Gretzky juggernaut Oilers and the Super Mario Jagr led Pens.
Flames knocked out the Oilers (infamous Steve Smith own net goal) and the Isles eliminated the Pens. I don't believe the Habs win either of those Cups if they'd played the Oilers and Pens. But maybe they would've? Both teams had the legendary Patrick Roy in net.
Because I believe they were just better teams doesn't matter. It's my opinion. It's not factual. And I can't blame the Habs for those 2 powerhouse teams being eliminated in the 2nd round. They took advantage of it.
Do I believe the 96 Red Wings beat the Panthers in the SCF? Heck yes. Does anyone care? Heck no. |

Santo, you direct the vast majority of your posts towards responding to other posters, and "fans" in general.
The fact is, you have next to NOTHING to say about hockey, because you KNOW nothing about it.
To you, there are no blueprints, or keys to winning, and random luck is a major factor.
Take a hard look at your own "credibility". |

Completely agree with your assessment.
That Isles victory over the Pens in 93 was particularly fortuitous. Holy poop. The Habs winning 10 straight playoff games helped as well as having the 🐐 in net.
It's one of the reasons why major soccer tournaments like the World Cup and Euro Cup are so interesting and infuriating: 1 game knockout rounds where anything can happen (e.g. Greece winning in '04). |

Jays fans may remember 1985. Up 3-1 in the series vs KC. Royals come back and win 4-3. Go on to win the World Series. KC won 91 games that season. 2 years later the Minnesota Twins won the World Series. They won 85 games. |
