Columbus backed out of the eichel trade talks.
Looks like they offered: 5th overall pick, Merzlikins, Texier, and Marchenko.
No Dice!!! - Fakepartofme
I guess Texier, and Marchenko didn't cut for them. |

I really dont know much about the last two.
but no.
Leafs arent trading marner for all "maybe" nhl'ers.
At least I wouldnt think so. - Fakepartofme
Agree, doubt there is any forward in the league that would be a fit for both sides. Trading for trash and semi-trash is not likely either. Doubt very much Marner is traded. It will be enough to shame him enough that he earns his pay next time he gets an opportunity in the playoffs.

Robetson - JT - Marner (if Robertson is ready - at least give it a try)
Gives you 2 shooters and a playmaker and either they or AM - Willy + ? get extra room / away from a set defensive pair/shut down forward line. - Cush29

Agreed. Spatso is a Leaf troll that operates at the highest level of bafoonery (or lowest if you quantify based on intellectual content)
He has (more than once) Suggested Connor Brown for Marner. Gives you an idea of his credibility

Both Olesiak and TJ shoot left, so only true RHD in that list are Bogo and Liljegren. Leafs still need a drive the net sandpaper guy. Hyman ok, but need another one IMO. A big forward that doesn't play like a chickensh!t |

"Looking at the first round of the 2011 draft. Forgot Chicago took Phillip Danault with the pick after the #Leafs chose Stuart Percy at 25. Only seven players from that round didn't go on to play at least 160 NHL games. Two were Percy (12) and Tyler Biggs (0)." |

Was an interesting draft for sure. Lots of quality players. The one that got away for all teams except Tampa though was Kucherov. Fear of picking a Russian, dropped him to a late second round pick. Probably rates as one of the worst drafts in Leaf history. |

Every residential school should be thought of as a crime scene. It’s too easy to shift all the blame on the churches. |

He's coached a play-in loss and a playoff loss where the Leafs were favoured and heavily favoured. Was out-coached by an interm coach with 36 games of NHL experience (15 wins and 21 losses)

The dark side of me wants Leaf trades and UFA signings followed by profound failure.
Now it wants those traded away to relish in Phil Kessel like, Stanley Cup euphoria.
They did this to me.

You may be right but I hope not. As an armchair coach, there would have been more beneficial ways to retaliate on the JT injury than a 30 second hugging session with Perry, especially if you consider equal value targets. Leafs went to a knife fight with water pistols.

They are a very good playoff team. Elite goaltending and top 4 D, and all four lines compete and contribute, and more importantly play a disciplined playoff style game. They stick to their system and assignments and make very few mistakes.
There are people around here who see the game either on paper, or who are impressed by slick moves and cool instagram accounts. They have absolutely no clue of how vastly different playoff hockey is to regular season hockey.
Montreal is a team that was built to play playoff hockey. So, are they "good"? Yes, they are very good at playoff hockey.
The Leafs? Good at regular season hockey. |

You lost me at Marner.
Bottom 6 might be a bit faster, don't know about tougher. Gonna be hard to skin the cat of soft, fluffiness by keeping all the soft fluffiness.
The Leafs just can't fix the roster to be tougher and BETTER without losing one of the top 3. Don't see how. I hope, but don't see it.
