Maybe it wasn't that the north division was a write off but an easy path to the finals because it was such an easy division. Haven't had to try much all season playing against the Canucks. Less wear and tear.
- manvanfan

Central was the easy division once Dallas missed the playoffs.

That’s why they play the games.

That said there is always the ppl saying luck fluke or this or that.

It’s hockey. Luck is huge. But I don’t think Montreal was particularly lucky. They’re just peaking at the exact right time. It’s not just Price. The whole team is killing it.

There is pretty much no way Bettman is going to let the cup come to MTL.
- manvanfan

Tampa is going to beat the Islanders and they’ll beat Montreal. That my prediction. TB can play big or skilled, offensively or defensively, such a great team. Hopefully Kucherov isn’t out long.

Could be, but it’s not like Montreal was shredding the rest of the North (aside from the Canucks). They barely squeaked through.

‘82 Canucks cinderella run comes to mind. In Vancouver though it was fluke & every other excuse under the sun. Not the dynasty NYI were a huge hurdle.

If Habs win the cup it will give Benning a few more years to screw up seeing most Canucks fans will feel they won the cup vicariously .

They are. I had them pegged wrong, I'll certainly root for them in the final!

I can’t talk about the ‘82 run, I wasn’t born yet. And I have a hard time being objective about the other Canuck runs because I was just too damn absorbed. This Montreal team though, objectively speaking, could win it all, and then miss the playoffs next season.

Me too. If it’s the Islanders I’ll root for them, but if it’s Tampa I’ll be going hard for Montreal.

Well you just said above peaked at the right time all you need to know but in Van back then that wasn’t the slant. Par for the course.

Bergevin took a lot of risk bringing in 6-7 new faces this year on this Habs squad much in the way Gillis did in 2011. Man I hope they do it. Price has to know this is his last shot.

Think of how happy ONT is lighting the CN tower and Niagra Falls. That alone is worth the run

I honestly don't care. I grew up there so I already seen them win many times. But two years ago Habs fans wanted to fire Bergevin also
