I would be thrilled if the Canucks added at least 3 new defensemen. Not OEL, at this stage of the rebuild. - Reubenkincade
I just threw a name out there. There are ways to move Meyers . They may also keep him . |

I'd say it's more of a re-tool, the core is in place, just need to surround them with the right players |

I don't think you are going to see Hamonic here next year.
I can see Canucks looking into a Myers for OEL swap (Did not say I approve it) . Benn is not coming back , Looks like OJ is on the way out.
I don't really care one way or the other if Edler comes back or not if it is cheap. - VANTEL
Benning mentioned strong defensive dmen so I can see Hamonic still being in play for Benning depending on how things shake out over these next couple of weeks |

If the canucks add OEL by getting rid of Myers, it will be a massive mistake.
Myers 3 more years at 6aav
OEL 6 more years at 8.25aav
OEL has also regressed like crazy the last 3 years. I'd 100% rather keep Myers and let him play out 3 more years, unless it's Myers for OEL and 50% retained and a high pick coming back to us. |

Sure I guess, I just think that the rebuild word makes more sense for a team that doesn't have a good young core yet, Canucks are past that stage. |

I wouldn't protect any defensemen. None are worth the space.

I like this post, very philosophical. Can you re-tool a re-build that was never really built? What is a foundational player if he is not foundational? Do you know who you are if you're just a dude satirizing a dude disguised as another dude? |

All are in the conversation for top players 25 and under at their respective positions. Hoglander just had a fanatic rookie season, if he becomes a better finisher, he'll be on that list as well. Podkolzin also projects to be a core player. Horvat is a great 2C and captain still in his prime. Miller is a power forward in his prime. |

Because they canucks have no other options though. It's not as though he would be there by choice if we had suitable players who could properly play the top 4. - Codes1087
But didn't you just say there is no difference in their situations? There's a pretty sizable difference. |

I disagree. I think both are in a position to retire and be surpassed by young players. League minimums and acceptance of being 13th forward and 7th D should be the reality for both players and both clubs |

Genuine question, do people use power forward to mean someone who scores and also throws some hits? I don't really see Miller as a guy who intimidates anyone physically or who forces people out of his way. He is physical when it comes to puck retrieval, but I don't think anyone is afraid of playing against him. |

Spezza didn't need to be passed he was already on the 4th line? Edler logged top 4 minutes last year and there isn't anyone on the team who looks ready to bump him down. |

If we continue to bring back the same awful D every year, we don't deserve to improve.
Edler again logged top 4 minutes because we had no players who could, so he played way above his weight class. It's time for fresh faces, younger and faster players. Rathbone played 8 games and was unreal in his small sample size. The canucks can go younger+cheaper in the UFA market than Edler as well. It's time to move on |

It's a very good core, not everyone will agree, but I like Miller, Pettersson, Boeser, Hoglander, Demko, Rathbone and hoping Podkolzin shows as much promise as Hogs did in his first year. |
