He is also at the stage of his career where he might want to win a cup. Great first season on the wing, proved last season he could play top 6 centre. Wouldn't want his value to lessen with a bad season. Two years of contract left is much more assurance for another team.

If the team isn't 100% legit contending nightly next season, he better be gone before the TDL.

It was a weird year all around for everyone. Plus the team lost its best forward for a huge chunk of the season.

this is nothing new for the league. how many years did detroit represent the western conference in the finals. had the laffs done the impossible in 94, that would have been a nyr/tor final. so all eastern finals are nothing new.

i'm one who likes the earlier starts, though, especially in the summer. add in that games that go to OT make me happy/excited to see more rather than make me calculate how much of overtime i can watch so i like an all eastern final this year.
