I don’t believe Mtl is a great team. I think they will have a very difficult time making the playoffs next season. The run is fun to watch, but I have no delusions about how good they are long term based on this moment.

I dont know how you can say that Toronto giving up a 1st for foligno and then getting bounced first round doesn't hurt them. That is a massive payment for nothing, and a huge potential mortgage of the future. Point is though, I don't think Benning can escape criticism no matter what he does this off season. I think he's fired before the season ends

Personally, I think the coaching adjustments recently made will change the style of play. I also think Benning needs to make a few tweaks, but I like the skillset and talent the group has.

Yes Hughes struggled defensively but his upside is huge. I am also fine with Schmidt, Myers, Harmonic, Rathbone and Joulevi. I can understand bringing back the same D core is not appealing to a lot here, but I would allow the new coaching philosophies to mould the back end rather than starting from scratch again.

As one poster likes to refer to facts, facts are last season results do not automatically mean the same results this coming season.

I do think if the team struggles Benning will be fired, I do think if they have a good season Benning gets to fulfill his contract.
