1 game away from the final against a team that's good but beatable and 35 years of poop and they lose 1 0 on athe only shorthanded goal against all season. Just disappointing
- Upstate_isles

I don’t know how to post screen shots but it was a BLATANT too many men penalty. Worse then the last one they won on. Doesn’t matter now but man I didn’t realize it at the time. So (frank)ing brutal that play should’ve been whistled down 100%. Look for it online.

For all the non-Isles expressing butthurt over the Lightning - have fun on the golf course. Islanders fans are the only ones who have earned the right to female dog about the Lightning. Isles gave the Lightning the fight of their lives and no other team in the last two playoff seasons have pushed them to seven games. Isles gave the Lightning their toughest fight. Trust me, Lightning fans aged 10 years in this series and there is nothing but respect for the Isles. We don't want to see them again any time soon. Once this Lightning LTIR-skirting roster is finally broken up, the Isles will remain the team to beat in the East.

For the clown above who said Tampa fans are fake - respect your elders, son. I was a hockey fan when you were a dirty thought in your absentee-daddy's head. Show me on the doll where Tampa hurt you. Tampa is living rent-free in so many heads.

Tip of the hat to the Isles fans in this forum for tolerating this Lightning bumhole and being civil even when I didn't deserve it.

No offense dude, but I'm not your son!! Was a season ticket holder for the Flyers from 1985-2005 to give you an idea of my age and I'm quite familiar with the game. Also, no offense to your team or actual real fans such as yourself, but that arena is dead compared to other arenas around the league. No gonna lie, but I hate when good teams play in non traditional hockey markets! I was watching one of the games in this series in Tampa and it seemed like a mid January game. And what the hell is up with those stupid arse noise makers that they give out down there.

Ok, you have seniority on me. I've been watching hockey since the early 90's.

I will concede that the Tampa arena is quiet. I don't know why. This is a special time for Lightning fans and that arena should be rocking until the lid comes off. I've often remarked on how subdued the Tampa crowd is. I think part of it is because many fans down here are from up north and Tampa is not their primary team....well that and some of them are 3 days away from the retirement home.

You’re a good dude good luck the rest of the way. I’m interested to see how the Habs stack up against Tampa. Not sure if I’ll be able to watch I’m throughly disgusted with hockey right now

Didn’t realize it at the time but that short handed goal was another too many men on the ice penalty. Like a really bad one
- Cptmjl

I saw that on Twitter last night.

That's the only solace I took from the Lightning's ECF and SCF losses in 2011 and 2015. It takes a champ to beat a champ.

If Trotz will get over his love of ancient pylons, the Isles are going to be dangerous for years to come. You guys have solid goaltending, great team defense, and a bonafide stud in Barzal. No shame in the Isles game. You guys just ran into a steamroller that is $20m over the cap and loaded with franchise players.

I won't dare make any predictions because I hate the taste of humble pie, but I'm not nearly as worried about the Habs as I was with the Isles. Although....three other teams have thought the same thing against the Habs. Nobody picked the Habs to be in the finals - millions of busted brackets there. So, anything can happen.

Thanks. The Habs busted my bracket all to poop. I couldn't root for them either, even if my Lightning had washed out before the finals.

Yep Habs have taken a lot of teams by surprise they’re on a tear. I thought it would be Vegas in five. I’m not counting them out but I still say Tampa will take this series. The Lightning are a ridiculous team from top to bottom very difficult to match up against them or I should say you can’t match up against them.

I’m not saying this as an excuse by any means and I’m not blaming Tampa for doing it good on them for doing what it takes to win but having that extra cap space on an already stacked, talented team is an impossible match up for any team.

Thank You and good luck to Tampa! I have family in Montreal and I hope they win but I give the Habs very little chance. The Islanders have Barzal and it was still not enough. I do not think the Habs have the offensive talent to be a threat to Tampa.

The job Lou and Barry did to get the Isles to this level was incredible and very difficult. It's only get to be that much harder to get over the hump. The fact the Islanders did lose not going with their best is the hardest part. Again, you go with Palms on the 1st line and you at least try Wally you did everything you could. Just feels like things could have been tried.

I feel like Palmieri may have had something going on also the last few games. He looked out of sorts.

And yet we were right there, barzal had a great look and the puck bounced over his stick. I guess that's what makes it tough in that we were neck and neck with a super talented team and could have won it all

He could have been injured Cpt but again that 3rd line had nothing going on. Even the little time Palms was on the 1st line that 1st line seem to have better jump.

100%. That Beauvillier deflection that hit the crossbar is something that’ll wake me up in the middle of the night for the next couple of months.

Yeah the numbers don’t lie as far as that’s concerned. I also believe Zajac shouldn’t have seen the ice after the Boston series. His game quickly deteriorated after the second game he played imo. That line was a black hole. Is what it is can’t change anything now. Wahlstrom will 100% be a regular next season…

It’s times like these I wish I liked other sports. Watched soccer and baseball for years when I was younger and just lost interest. It’s hockey or bust for me. God damn destroyed right now but I guess that’s why we all love this sport.

Even the Nelson line struggled this series. Tampa is elite but the Isles offense has dried up these two series again Tampa. Isles come in looking good on offense right before the Tampa series and it becomes a real struggle. I would have been tempted to switch Eberle and Bailey last night. I just like the idea of trying different things when things are not working. I'm actually really looking forward to see what moves are made this offseason. Would not mind losing Eberle in the draft.

Yes it is and while we don't play we all invest a ton of time following this team and their loss is ours.

This one hurts a lot. Tampa is clearly the better team and yet this series was there for the taking. It was a helpless feeling watching last night. Even with the game 1-0 you just had the sense the Isles were in trouble.
