How the two teams arrived in the Finals is not relevant. They are the last two teams standing still fighting for the Cup. No matter who wins, it will be quite an achievement. All this arguing is just silly.

Yup 9 million over the cap--- that makes it chess
Picture Montreal with another 18 million added so they are 9 million over Tampa----hmmmm interesting |

Today’s game is rotten. Habs and Isles playing Rodeo hockey. A game that would never have been permitted in the regular season. Players can hack and wacky with impunity but don’t shoot the puck over the glass by an inch because that’s a penalty. Joke league |

NHL goaltenders are the single most important position in the playoffs. Vasilevskiy and Price are top two in postseason save%. There's nothing that compares in significance to having an elite goalie. - jfkst1

For the love of Jesus stop it-----Chandler Stephenson is not a first liner---my God comical---- Christ I am still laughing ahahh--- he didnt miss the whole series---last time I checked he played the last game as well and lost----
So with Schiefle they win the series ahahhahaahhahaha----- go smoke some more crack
Tell me one team that has one the cup without a few breaks-----now shut up and crawl back in the hole you came from---
Stone ---no points--- yup that was luck too---- my God---- where do these people come from
Remember everyone talks about the North division being poopty---look at that Pacific division--- Colorado Minnesota Vegas and a bunch of duds--- maybe that is why they were dominant--- but lets cherry pick stats that fits your narrative---TOOL
You are still making me sick - bigmacdaddy
You sure your not making yourself sick?
Following your line of reasoning has me a bit queasy
So you don’t won’t to entertain the idea the the habs have benefited from events outside of their control more then any other team. Fair but from one numb skull to another don’t undercut your own position by declaring that the toughest opponent Montreal faced came from a division worse then the north. guess what the habs ability and grit had nothing to do with a global pandemic that re-shuffled the nhl divisions. offering up such laughable competition as the leafs (perennial joke) the jets (with or without a 1st line C)who swept the seed above them and then go on to play against a 2nd team (arguably one of the best) from the western conference. None of which is possible without out a lotta luck, good and bad.
The habs have played great defensive playoff hockey and deserve to be in the finals. All I’m trying to state is that I have never seen a team so fortunate as to have avoided literally facing off against teams with their full complement of top 6 (seam to need this clarified) center depth.
Take a gravel and enjoy the best underdog story the nhl playoffs have produced.

For the love of God stop------ just stop--- so fortunate OMG----you are trying to convince yourself----
are you telling me When Edmonton and Carolina were playing for the Cup and Roloson got run over and they played the Stanley Cup with Ty Freaking Conklin---that alone is more fortunate than Montreal in all the three series combined----
MIC DROP--- stop talking--- I have forgotten more about hockey than you will ever know |

Carolina shouldn't even have been there, Sabres would have beat them if 3/4 of there defense hadn't gotten hurt. |

Nope now I’m just here to piss you off.
Finally some content!
You could have started with this example of extreme luck for Carolina to have an oilers defender drive a forward into his own goalie resulting in a season ending injury. Goalies are probably the best measure of success in the playoffs so it’s a good argument but the importance of top 6 centers is up there. Now 3 conservative series without facing the oppositions best players down the middle is a unique type of fortune. Like it or not it aided the habs in getting to the finals.
Maybe Tampa will get lucky and Weber will destroy price game 1 by cross checking point into his goalie. |

That was also the same for everyone despite your opinion. The only difference was that the Lightning happened upon a situation where those rules worked more in their favor. |

Lightning in 6, if cap-compliant Kuth stays healthy.
I would hope the NHL makes a rule of having players play X-amount of regular season games (any league so their NCAA prospects are still eligible) to be eligible for the play-offs. |

Aided of course--but with the exception of the Toronto series--Montreal was winning those other rounds regardless--- All you have to do is look at Mark Stones' face--- dumbfounded and owned |
