the debate seems to be do they trade Marner or Nylander. I for one always tought they should trade the former, even before his last playoffs collaps. but now I'm starting to think they should trade both of them. keep Tavares and Matthews and surround them with players who bring more grit and are making less money. - fidopro
Nylander carried them last playoffs. Trading him doesn't make sense imo. If they can get a decent dman for Marner I think they should do it. |

Tavares has a no trade clause I believe and Matthews is obviously a keeper.
I haven't watched the Leafs enough this year to comment on Marner and Nylander.
All I can say is that in the series against us Nylander was a threat while Marner was invisible. They have nice pieces to build around but at least one must go in my opinion if they want to be able to afford a competent support cast.
Danault & our D really did a number on their stars by shutting them down in the latter part of the series. Offense might be flashy but D wins championhips. |

I think you trade the one that gets you the best return and/or best flexibility to gain depth in your lineup. You obviously get more for Nylander, as that is a friendlier contract, but you'd ideally want to trade Marner for the cap space.
Will be interesting to see what happens.
I kinda believe they won't touch the core. |

true. I would definitively trade Marner first. but,
they need a goalie, I don't believe you can win a cup with Campbell as your #1.
they need a top4 dman.
they need to surround their 2 top centers and have some depth.
I doubt they can do all that just by trading Marner. imho. |

Now they want to add another shiny toy in Dougie Hamilton. So even if they trade Morgan Rielly, they'd still have 58 mil tied up in 7 players. This leaves 23.5 mil to pay 15 players. - gergeswillems
Really? ... well they do like their toys over there.
58 mil on 7 players? ... damn, they need to get a GM who actually knows the game, not a clueless teenager with a spreadheet. |

Is it too soon to talk about next year line up? I would guess so. Seattle will come first, then the regular draft and then UFA?
Tatar has to be gone. Hard to say if Drouin will come back or not. Danault should be back. They could use Evans as the 4th line centre or on the wings. Allen with Seattle would open up a spot for Primeau, unless they really think he's not ready.
Depending on the price, I think they would look to keep Lehkonen and Armia.
The match up vs Tampa could alter things up for sure. |

I don’t need new friends. Just rooting for a team I’ve loved since I found hockey. Albeit 88 or so but other than that go (frank) yourself |

I think MB will send a pick or 2 to SEA so they don't take Allen.
imo Tatar, Drouin and Staal are gone. Evans will be the #4C. as you said, they'll try to keep Danault, Lek and Armia. |

obviously you guys arent thinking of the draft right now but it's just another dagger to the Leafs that you guys have 11 picks in the draft in a few weeks and the Leafs have 3.
you guys are on Cloud 9 right now - jimbro83
with the covid situation, the draft might be a mess this year
not sure how much scouting has been impacted, but it could be a problem |

If Seattle don't pick Allen, they can go edmundson or Chiarot.
Let them pick and keep your picks. Learn from Vegas.
Do you think Perry is coming back? He may want to retired as well. |

We have 11 picks this year and we've also picked a lot of players last year.
I'd rather keep our D intact if possible, they are a major reason for our playoff push this year.
I also think that Drouin is done, in fact I believe he should retire.
He obviously can't deal with the NHL ... he also had problems with the Bolts before he got here. JMO
Tatar is also a goner probably. |

Between Chiarot and Edmundson I would much rather keep Edmundson, younger and a bit more offensive and defensive abilities |

You may want to keep our D intact, but fido wants to keep Allen. We have to chose, that's the point.
We will either lose Allen or a top 4 D. Picks or no picks.
Unless we protect 4 D? Who do we protect upfront? |

Some writer mentioned yesterday on a trade proposal to get Matt Tkachuk in exchange for KK, Drouin, Lekhonen and 2nd round pick in 2022. Would you guys do it? |

I still think Drouin will be in the NHL next year just on a different team. Also if he still hasn’t talked to coach yet about playing against TB in this series (not saying we will put him in) he is gone. Prolly if it doesn’t work on his next team then Europe is the next stop
