Our local media , and the love and attention they give random Canucks Twitter posts is laughable.
Yesterday they went on and on over a tweet , besmerching GMJB over picking Podz vs Caufield.
Man are people dumb and blinded but the shiny toy in front of them.
CC is doing great for the Habs, but so did Podz for his KHL Team last playoffs .
Podz is gonna be a beast that few other fanbases never see coming.

The only reason anyone is even cheering for the kid is because he's small.
It's playoffs and he has 4 hits in 15 games. He has 2 blocks in 15 games.
It's a REALLY good thing that his teammates can do the rest of things that are absolutely also needed just as much as goal scoring in the playoffs.

JB is an easy target no matter what he does. There will always be ppl whining about him.

Would be nice for Podz to learn the NHL game playing with JTM and Motte. That would be quite the beast of a line.

That’s not true at all.
I say patience, I expected the losing, and am fine with it. What I’m not fine with is the incompetence - expecting to be a playoff team and finishing near dead last is brutal mismanagement.

I think going into every season, a team should plan to win as many games as possible. Goal would be to get into the playoffs. If the team doesn't have a goal like that, culture is talked about a ton and a team saying at the start of the year. "Yeah, we plan on sucking this season and we are open for business" That would get laughed at 10 times more than the goal of making the playoffs.
I don't think it's "mismanagement" I think it's stupid fans that think an NHL team coming out and saying "we plan on losing this season" is a smart move.
If we were bubble team just missing the PO’s the narrative would be shoulda tanked for a higher pick. No winning. Made the play ins & did well but even then there were excuses.

I think it would be more appropriate to judge and criticize after Beagle, LE, roussel and virtanen are gone. I think if they make the playoffs next year with those players still on the team, it will be an overachievement. I think once those players are gone, and given the core they now have, anything less than making the playoffs would be a failure (two years from now). Just my opinion.

JB has to get rid of those players and win or play those players and win. You don't get a pass on giving bad contracts and waiting until they are gone. Those are his mistakes, he has to overcome them.

It’s not the saying, it’s the doing. Obviously I don’t expect anyone in the organization to say they plan to suck. But trading draft picks and over paying aging UFA’s to shortcut the process says “we think we’re that close”. Now the organization says two more years, and then the next breath it’s playoffs.
Trying to be the best you can every year is great. Trying to be more than you are long term is a disaster.
I expect they will be marginally better next year. I don’t anticipate they will make the playoffs, so I won’t be disappointed if they miss, even though that’s the stated goal.
