It’s not the saying, it’s the doing. Obviously I don’t expect anyone in the organization to say they plan to suck. But trading draft picks and over paying aging UFA’s to shortcut the process says “we think we’re that close”. Now the organization says two more years, and then the next breath it’s playoffs.

Trying to be the best you can every year is great. Trying to be more than you are long term is a disaster.

I expect they will be marginally better next year. I don’t anticipate they will make the playoffs, so I won’t be disappointed if they miss, even though that’s the stated goal. Unless they go bat poop crazy, buy out a bunch of guys, trade picks for players and cap space and still miss, then I’ll be choked.

It's always comical that trading draft picks is a horrible thing but yet complaining about how he's not that great at drafting because so few prospects are making the NHL.

As seen by MTL this season, things can change in an instant.

The process of winning, isn't just about winning on ice though.

Would it have been better two years ago if Van was trading a 2nd for Roussel to find some bottom 6 grit for the playoffs instead of getting him in free agency years before that?

Pretty much agree. Let a year pass 👍

That's my wish. One more year of failure and heart ache. We have endured many many years, we can be patient one more year.

Two years ago, at the deadline they were treading water on the bubble. Had already traded their 1st and 2nd (and 3rd?). Yeah, that would have been a bad idea.

I’d much rather they took a slower approach that provided more depth in their development system so that they have grit, or skill, or even just a warm body to insert when they need.

As someone who really enjoys the draft and is a "draft guru"

I think this is just overblown.

You can just look at teams that drafted a ton like TML for years. Where are all those picks now? They had almost 15 more picks than Van over a 5 year period or something and right now Van has more drafted players than they do.

Anderson & Toffoli put MTL over the top, very good acquisitions by Marc Bergevin!

They have certainly helped for sure.

a .500 hockey club last season got to .527 this year. Circumstance/opportunity was taken.

Bergevin has never been afraid of swapping drafted players.

Gally for Domi, Domi for Anderson. SErgachev for Drouin. Weber for Subban

Whether they work out as expected or not.

JB would be throwing in picks in all those trades

Yup, Drouin was a bad deal, he's a gunslinger GM who's made great moves.

JB isn't in the same league

When I think of Gunslinger GM’s, the guy that comes to mind is always Pierre Lacroix RIP.

Thanks Carol

Loui to Seattle. Pod to the 1st line. Hughes for the Norris. Petey for the Ring of honor

Deep dive post
..the cancelation culture can't it slide.

Flavor flave said it best, freedom of speech, just watch what you say..

Next little bit is for the boss.

*My opinions only*

First, in case you delete this, or it disappears.. no it didn't. Its the internet.

https://archive.org/ (for anyone who wants to go back a few years, months, days or hours)

Big Boss man? If everything I post sux, how come you or anyone who complains never posts what is good?

I can tell you.

Having an opinion is hard.

Boss.....the reason I never wrote back to you private dm, is the conversation we had in the main tread. Remember the Cruise you took? Full of Trump supporters...."almost the whole Cruise passengers" were Trump supporters....
I asked you if they were all racists, and you said "yea" . (go back and look, unless it gets deleted, then just use the link i provided )

That's when I had my disconnect. To me racist is a horrible word, and wouldn't want to be around that. The second I found out I was on the KKKruse I'd want a refund and hell, I'd take the wife to go carts instead of sharing drinks with David Duke.

But thats you.

I respect you are HB cop, as a person....might wanna check a mirror bro.

Different sport but John Schneider Seahawks is a true gunslinger GM.

Mike Keenan, Brian Burke, Pat Quinn were Canuck GM's not afraid to shake things up.

I doubt JB would have made the right trades but he hasn't exactly had the same quality of assets that Berg has had.

That 4 year gap Between Cody Hodgson and Bo Horvat should have produced 3-8 good NHL players min. and would have been assets for JB to use or trade and nothing.

That hurts, and makes things really hard when you get nothing from any draft, not even a bottom 6 player. One draft maybe but 4 straight drafts is more than just bad drafting but bad development, bad scouting.

The hand is dealt. JB is running out of time, hopefully he doesn't mortgage the future in desperation with his "aggressive" moves.

Still so many ppl worry about the future &/or JB’s possible moves. Only in Vancouver. What a fragile insecure bunch.

Only in Vancouver? BS. Only in every market with a sports franchise with a passionate fan base. Some people only see the positives: we’ll, that’s fine, that’s their thing. Some people want to dwell on the negatives, that’s fine too. Some people celebrate the good and female dog about the bad. Also fine. But this constant complaining and over simplifying about fans who see things differently than you (on a bloody fan site, no less) is getting pretty old.
