it's no coincidence he's had 3 concussions Karine. that's one thing young players, often euros, need to learn. and yes Pat, even on the Scheifele hit. he should have take a look see what's coming. I'm not excusing Scheifele of course.
Ylonen, which I like very much, still has to learn this btw. - fidopro
Crosby has a history of concussions, was sure as hell no euro, and certainly the best in the game in his prime. What's really needed is a paradigm shift. Having a someone who wasn't punched in the head for a living in charge of player safety would be a great start. I don't understand how the NHL couldn't see the irony of having Pronger and Parros. |

Your guess is as good as mine. Wilson getting that joke fine for what he did sent the complete wrong message. If he was suspended for 5-10 games, players might think twice about what they are doing. Clearly the hope players will be altruistic is failing, so maybe their absence from the team will get something done. |

I agree Pat, but it still happens. and it will conitnue to happen. head's up!
when you cross the street, you walk when the light is green yes? you still take a look left and right before doing so. I hope you d. - fidopro
I get your point, and yes players need to protect themselves as much as possible, but this "heads up" thing has its god damn limits. |

I'd be curious to know what players in general think about hits like Sheifele on Evans. would be a lot more interesting than those surveys asking "who's the most skilled player" or whatever lol

seeing people actually agreeing with guys like Sean Avery makes me realize we're still very far from having the sport evolve in the right direction. |

I know, that's the point, if active players still think that way then it's very unlikely things will get better any time soon.

hey! maybe it's us who have to change our mindset?
it's a contact sport. you cannot play with your head down and expect not to get hit. agreed 100%.
that doesn't mean some players are not dirty, and they should get many games suspensions instead of 5k fines. but others need to learn to protect themselves. imho. |

I'm obviously not disagreeing with this, but the focus should be 100% on the player's responsibility when hitting another player. having to worry about being decapitated just shouldn't be a thing lol... anyways, it is what it is. |

agreed. someone mentionned where is the time when players had respect for each other. that was 50 years ago! |

he's having a hard time acting as if it didn't bother him at all to see the habs in the finals without him.

yeah I think that period of "mutual respect" among players didn't last very long...

went out the window with the Flyers in 74'. before that it was not rare to hear players tell their opponent watch out I'm coming before hitting them. |

I mean whatever they think, factually it fit all of the criteria for charging. The fact we were trying to guess whether poople would get a 5k fine or a 5 game suspension is a symptom of the problem in how inconsistent suspensions are. Weber absolutely demolished Keith's head I think around 10 years ago and didnt get a thing. |
