If I were Bergevin I would bring Joel in my office and ask him what it would take for him to stay within the organisation.

Assistant coach job?
Head coach?
Money?
Women?

....Men?

He really looks like a perfect fit in Laval.

The only job he can't take is head coach... Ducharme deserves that much.

You'll have to make difficult choices for sure (choices that would have been made a year ago).

But I think Tampa has one more year of being heavy favorites ahead of them.

Then Point's super bridge deal ends.

GM's are going to have a serious advantage with leverage over Briesbois. They know Briesbois is in a tough position and must shed salary at all costs. Asking prices for deals are going to be very high. I expect he'll try to cut a deal with Seattle to take a contract or two, but it's going to cost more picks and prospects. If the Lightning win another Cup, it will be easier to look back on this era without regrets. If they traded away their next ten years of contender status for one trophy, then the legacy would become less attractive.

I'd give away 10 years of contender status for one cup in a heartbeat.

I would offer him the assistant coach job, and offer Burrows the head coach job in Laval. Don't know if he's ready for it though...

Hartley - Ducharme associate coaches

Hartley handles the press conferences. Not sure I can handle a full season of Ducharme pressers

The Lightning do have that. It's all they have until they can win another three games against Price and the Habs. I expect to see a ton of pushback from Montreal in the next game and I am not optimistic about it with Killorn being out. The Lightning are ripe to take a loss, so they better bring the same compete level they did in game one, because there is no doubt the Habs will bring it this time.

Stamkos, McDonagh, and Hedman are heading down the wrong side of the aging curve. I don't know how many elite seasons they have left in them. Johnson is a shadow of his former self. Palat and Killorn will likely end up as cap casualties. The right-side of the defense is a mess outside of Cernak.

Briebois has kicked the cap can down the road for a long time, but now he has run out of road. And some of the elite players he inherited are going to be declining. It will be interesting to see how long the Lightning can keep up winning like they do.

On the plus side, Point and Vasi are just hitting their primes.
