After watching this years playoffs, there is NO way this team was going to make any noise at all. This Rangers team would have been SWEPT in the first round! The team is comprised of high skill players, but not enough grit to advance. Apparently Dolan asked some tough questions to JD and Gorton and didn't like the answers. End of story!
Dolan is many things. But to say that he doesn't/hasn't had any patience with the Rangers is a complete lie! He actually has been a very hands off owner for YEARS.
I am not a Dolan apologist and I greatly dislike many of his public arguments involving the Knicks. However, he has always left the Rangers alone for the last 15 years and I think too many are over reacting and speculating without any real facts... - TommyGTrain
but why is Sather back in the picture though, that still irks the hell out of me
Dolan has this affinity for Sather like he had for Isiah Thomas
Sather is still responsible for much of the messes of the last 20 years and he's there next to Drury, it just irritates me
JD did not get long enough

well to be fair I think things are just different in the US and Canada and Canada is still grappling with this - jimbro83
If there was ever a time for Canada, especially Montreal, to take some of the lid off and provide some optimism in peoples hearts (and the team), its right now. They could have atleast met in the middle some where and said, ok we will give you 8,000 people for game 3 and 4. Were not quite ready, but were ready to dip our toes in the water a bit deeper. If that is a success, and we extend the series we may increase the numbers for game 6. |

I still can't believe people blame him. He was here for 2 years, where they had no cap space and were not expected to be contending. "But he should have done more" lol |

Something to keep an eye on: hearing LA/NASH have been working on a Viktor Arvidsson deal. Should get clarity today. |

Honestly, just simply the luck he brought us in winning the draft lottery and getting Panarin should have got him one more year.
Im sure there was definitely something said behind closed doors that pissed off Dolan. |

Sather DID have to go, the game clearly had passed him by. But Sather also groomed Gorton to take over. Was that a mistake too?
I just think Dolan trusts Sather. Dolan has stated in interviews that he doesn't know hockey. I am sure Sather recommended Drury. There is still continuity in the current front office. |

one of first big moves Sather made when he came here was acquiring an oft-injured 1st line center in Eric Lindros
it just feels like history about to repeat itself a little bit

1. You realize youre talking to an RN who worked on the COVID ICU for 2 months between March and May.
2. I dont know where youre getting your numbers from, but I have direct access to the inpatient COVID numbers for my hospital. You'd be really disappointed to know what those numbers are.
3. You seem like the kind of person who, no matter what stage or situation we will be in, will continue to live in fear and cynicism. Will never be able to return to a normalcy, I feel bad for you. At some point you have to wake up and free yourself from the restraints youve been put in and say fk it, I want to live. I hope you find that place some day. - aecliptic
1. Of course I realize you are an RN, you tell us every day.
2. I could care less how the numbers may or may not be inflated. My point was that your country has had the most pathetic response to this virus in the world, BY FAR.
So, it seems silly to me that Americans thinking someone else's response should be held to your standards.
Our immunization levels are far below yours due to lack of access to vaccines.
3. You know nothing about me. I will receive my 2nd dose tomorrow and have already been enjoying renewed relationships with family and friends, in responsible ways. Namely outdoors and with care taken for those who have extenuating circumstances.
That is much different than packing in shoulder to shoulder with strangers in a closed environment, screaming and yelling and spewing droplets of moisture for 3 hours. All because the business of sport is more important than working toward a healthier population.
But yes, let's make the world America!! |

Tkachuk got 7m AAV, is due a minimum 9m qualifying offer. Rantanen is getting 9.25m on his RFA extension. To say Fox wont get anywhere near 8m after winning the Norris trophy is a bit over confident. - aecliptic
Trouba's 8mil per is the bare minimum Fox will take |

Further to what @FriedgeHNIC was speculating, it’s not done yet, but all signs pointing to Viktor Arvidsson getting traded to the LA Kings likely today. |

Yes Tom. I think primarily because you also led the world in cases and deaths.
Part of my point was that Canada is far behind in vaccinations. So, why would we open up arenas the same way you have? |

one of Carp's question/answers
There’s a retroactive view that the Rangers would have gone to the playoffs if they hadn’t been so “soft.” But before the season, not a lot of folks expected this very young, rookie-laden team to do much more than .500 in their strong division. I look at the cup as more than half-full. James Dolan evidently thought it was below half-empty. What’s your water level and do you think Dolan/Drury/Gallant will keep the momentum going in the right direction? — Norm M.
First of all, I think Dolan was completely wrong in his assessment that the 2020-21 Rangers underachieved or that they should have made the playoffs. Absurd, actually. I think the dream would have been to be competitive down to the final week and perhaps squeak in if another team faltered. That didn’t happen, nor should it have been expected to. I wouldn’t have any worries about Drury and Gallant, but given the temperature rising from the owner’s suite, I would be very concerned about the “momentum” and “direction.” … Patience is a virtue. The owner doesn’t have it. - jimbro83
If want to double down on this, below is what Brooks also wrote today. You know my view of Quinn and the job he had done. Same with Gorton and JD. Sather has the owner’s ear, which scares the tar out of me. I hope i am working
i am not arguing or suggesting that David Quinn should have been brought back for a fourth year behind the bench. There would have been too much baggage to carry forward into next season. A new voice was needed.
But the remarkable ascension of Adam Fox from a guy competing for a roster spot as a rookie in 2019-20 to being selected the league’s best defenseman for 2020-21 as a sophomore should be a reminder that players did develop and improve playing for Quinn.
Those who proclaim that Fox was a finished product when he arrived are spouting nonsense. They are ignorant, willfully so or not.
Quinn constructed the Ryan Lindgren-Fox pair. Both improved. Both thrived under increased responsibility. Pavel Buchnevich improved under Quinn. Mika Zibanejad had the best year of his career playing for Quinn. So did Panarin. So did Ryan Strome. K’Andre Miller made the all-rookie team playing for Quinn.
That is worth remembering |

How many games did the Islanders play in the playoffs with a packed house? I dont know about you, but I havent heard anything about any spikes in hospitalizations over the last month.
Yes, I remind everyone every day that Im a nurse, right. When you start spewing negative garbage about COVID and hospitalizations, yea Im gonna chime in.
If you had led off with, immunizations and the such in Canada isnt quite there yet for a full opening, I wouldnt have taken the tone that I did. However, you said how you said it, and you got what you got in response. |

You forgot Texas and Florida! No outbreaks either with packed houses for past few months. But again, who cares. Live your life and let those who are still fearful, live theirs.

the Kings trade 2nd and 3rd round picks to Nashville for Arvidsson
now really interesting to see who the Kings protect in expansion draft, they could very well leave both Lias and Lemieux exposed |

The U.S does lead the world currently in cases and deaths. However, when it all said and done, the US will probably be 3rd behind China and India. They don't have accurate reporting the way we have in those 2 countries as of now.
That said, I agree with you that Canada shouldn't be packing arenas. You can't open up the same way that we have.
