Don't be surprised if these picks go into a package for Seattle to take one of Duchene or Johanssen.
On its own i don't understand this for Nashville as Arvidsson is very good and cheap. Are they going to keep selling? - MacPatty
I think NSH is trying to do a minor retool on the fly. |

At the 32 minute mark last night Tampa only had 8 shots.... Habs played a good game and a few very blatant mistakes cost them. None of the goals against are on Price IMO. He could of saved the 2nd one but it was a really fn hard save to make. - MattStrat
Not blaming Price. Just saying Vas is winning that duel. |

At the league minimum Lundqvist is going to sign on a team that has a chance to win next year . A year of rest and training whoever gets him at a basement price will come out winners |

A couple good rounds and people forget Price isn’t even a top 10 goalie anymore. |

He does seem to be on every year in the playoffs at least. |

I weirdly have confidence he will find his game again. I don't think he'll ever come close to Vezina status, but I do think he's got all the ability to become a solid goalie if he starts to give a poop about making himself better. - Rinosaur
I think the league has largely figured him out. JMO. He can still have some decent games but I’d never count on him to be a consistent #1. I was surprised Ott gave him that deal. |

UFA that you don’t have the cap for because bums like Tanev make 3.5m - Feds91Stammer
Well if Tanev made 6 million I’d still rather watch him play than Armia so I’m good. |

Or any goalie in the NHL because the majority of goals are scored glove side. |

Jarry can catch...most goalies give up the glove side..even vasy has more goals scored in that spot than any other this playoffs(apparently thats not a story though?) But Matt Murray cannot catch even if its right in the glove. It got so bad for a while there he just began to bat the puck away like a blocker because he could never hold onto the damn thing. |

Hard for the Pens to make any moves before the draft considering their financial position and figuring out what players to protect. - Rinosaur
I don't believe this is accurate. I think Hextall knew who he wanted to protect for a while. I do think it would be wise of us to try to make some trades and get something back for a player than just lose them in the expansion draft. I believe a lot of GMs are thinking the same thing.
I would classify McCann, Zucker, Pettersson in this category of players to shop (if McCann is going to be exposed in the draft). |

Or any goalie in the NHL because the majority of goals are scored glove side. - j.boyd919
Correlation is not causation, there are a lot of reasons for this based on asymmetry, save selection, and game dynamics. Also a the majority LH shots tend to pull, so more shots go the goalie's left (and there are few full right goalies anymore)
For Jarry it's part of a larger problem he has with post-shot control. He might as wear two blockers. His blocker hand isn't very good either. Both fail to control the puck and lead to rebounds.
These are differences at the margins, but the debate over approach fall largely into Allaire fixed hand pure blocking vs Ian Clarke hands forward and steering. The discussion gets wrapped up in terminology and approach. I had this debate over glove hand positioning 15 years ago with a couple pro coaches .
The Euros were coaching "active hands" and the North American more of an elbows in hands close in blocking, with no holes. Clarke took more of a middle ground. I reframed "active hands" as "hands forward", which both a Euro and NA pro goalie coach took on.
Columbus is a good example of Clarke's work. He emphasizes controlled dynamics rather than blocking.
Clearly there are ways to attack either style and the blocking approach recognizes that 19 of 20 saves are pure geometry and letting the puck hit you. Nonetheless, a good glove hand isn't just about making saves, it gets stopage of play orf directs rebounds |
