Nope I don't need a list . I remember all the screaming that fooking Benning didn't trade Sutter 3 days after coming out of Covid. I don't need an update on the fan bases warm feelings for Jim Benning . I seen the airplane banner and a I seen the rally of 9 fans at Rogers Arena. The passion of this fan base love for Jim is well documented.

That little soiree at Rogers Arena was kinda cute though, wasn't it? |

Benning was actually probably one of the most qualified and ready to be general managers they've ever hired with his scouting background and years as an assistant GM.
Unfortunately for Vancouver it has worked out so well, however, his incompetence has lead to poor finishes and excellent draft positions where they've picked some really good young players to build around. They just need to find someone who can fill in those perimeter roles with much much more efficiency. - LeftCoaster
I get it . The fans don't like him .
They like the guy before him that left him a flaming pile of sh1t that we are just now crawling out of .
The chants of Fire Gillis have gone back to bring back Gillis . No need to explain for the 800 th time

You brought up “asset management”, I’m just reminding you that Jim Benning wrote that book.
I wonder what it would cost the Wild to get Seattle to take Suter or Parise, should they waive? Probably a lot! |

I still remember how upset people were that we didn't get a star player coming back for Gudbrandson

That is fine . I personally thought he needed to go and I am not sure he can last . I listened to the words of Makita , until he isn't he is.
You can see Canucks now bringing in hockey minds and it may take a year or two until everyone is running at top performance so all I can do is wait and see. I do like the moves they are making because everyone could see the problems in the past.

I would have been happy with a 9th round draft pick. But Pearson has really helped to cement the winning culture so it worked out well. |

So you think Podkolzin is going to have a Hoglander type of year? Personally I think he's going to struggle. |

It looks like there have been some changes within the #Canucks amateur scouting department:
-Todd Harvey officially has his title changed to Director of Amateur Scouting.
-Wyatt Smith has been promoted to head scout.
-Phil Golding has been promoted to head scout.
-Despite 2 promotions to head scouts, Ron Delorme and Thomas Gradin retain their titles as chief and associate chief amateur scouts.
-Amateur scout Jonathan Bates is no longer with the organization after being apart of it since 2008-2009. |

Benning should be fired for his f trades and signings.
Linden was right. Keep drafting and developing players. Bonehead Benning f'd up the program.
- MisterBrown
How old is this copy paste? Nvm - Nighthawk
I will continue to reiterate that Benning's mismanagement of players via signing and trade should be enough to get him canned.
He screwed up keeping JV instead of McCann,
He screwed up by keeping JV instead of letting him walk to open up space to sign Toffoli
He screwed up by keeping JV instead of trading him at the deadline a couple seasons ago before he had a poop season and was accused of rape
He screwed up by drafing JV in the first place
That's at least 4 screw ups just related to one player.
Now that is NOT copy pasta. |

No I see Hoglander as a points guy.
I see Podkolzen as a guy who will lower the shot totals against the Canucks by 5-8 a night. I see him as a guy who will get the puck in battles. He is a very good passer but I look at him as a puck possession player mostly. I predicted between 5-10 goals only but our goals against and shots against will come down.

I think he'll end up playing against the other team's top line and generate offense occasionally 5v5 and he'll get some pk and pp time as well. |

Perfect example of the systemic issues I was speaking to earlier. Here you have a guy in Ron Delorme, and Gradin as well, who was a old Canuck warrior. Despite his years of poor results as a scout for the organization in different capacities within the department, they continue to hang onto them because they don't want to offend anyone. He would've been canned six ways to Sunday in most other organizations.
At least that's my take... |

5-10 goals and 20 ish points would be an impressive rookie total. I’m not sure he will be able to have as profound an impact on the team game as you are suggesting. Reducing the shots against total by 5-8 per night would be a huge accomplishment (12.5%-20% of the average based on 40 shots against, which is probably higher than the actual). I’m hoping they can shelter him a bit, that he’s a positive possession player and that he can grow into an all situations player. |
