I think hearing about Seattle, who will become an instant rival, is an interesting and important topic in the Canucks thread.

The Leiweke bros are both solid execs. I’ve read and heard some great things about them, they’re good at bringing in smart people into organizations and getting ownership to fully buy into what management wants to accomplish.

That’s fair, just as long as it goes both ways. As long as Mak holds both sides of the political spectrum accountable. Personally, as crazy as some of Bettmanhatesus’ comments are, I don’t get as riled up as some on here. It’s not like he attacks anyone personally, unlike many on here.

I’m here for hockey & don’t mind some other stuff depending on content. Politics & news has its other places to discuss. Anything about America belongs there not here. Local news eg heat wave & fires etc are ok. It is difficult to keep it to hockey while this lull goes on.

So many people have talked about what the Kraken can do with your cap space. Is the plan for the Kraken to be a team that will spend to the cap?

Our GM has lots of options. What owners want is for our GM to build a long-term winner. He’s gotta figure out how to do that. If that strategy involves us going to cap in Year 1, he has the authority to do it. I think that is one of the reasons we are all optimistic. We have this fan base. We have this arena. We have the Kraken Community Iceplex and owners willing to give Ron resources. Our hope that is we are going to reward these fans, who have been incredible, with a competitive team for years to come.

I mentioned a month or so ago that VAN had interest in Medicine Hat Tiger center free agent Brett Kemp. Sounds like a deal has already happened or is about to happen. Likely an AHL deal. He has been a WHL solid player. Let’s see if he can duplicate it in the AHL and maybe the NHL
