OJ played the system in Utica, Hawryluk barely played, Holtby is a goalie so structure isn't the same.

So sure, 3 guys. If the rest of the team looked dynamite without them in, I'd give it to you. The team just sucked. Why is that hard to realize? Why are there external things that only effected the Canucks? You even stated all the other teams were dealt the same hand.. the Canucks just played it poorly.

1/2 the D was new. Yup plug n play.

Quote me where I said they were marvelous. As for sucked idc 15 teams are lotto teams & 30 losers in the end. Lots of suckage to go around.

Using the Habs as an example, they have 4 of 8 defensemen that are new this season as are Toffoli, Anderson, etc.

Just face it, the Canucks suck, nothing negative or positive , just a fact.

Sure, if you want to make it as cut and dried as that. His stats are pretty middle of the road compared to his teammates. Most of whom probably didn't travel overseas from Ontario to get a semblance of a season in. Most also over 17.

In my eyes, when your team is giving up almost 5 a night, being a plus player is impossible after a certain threshold of games. The fact that he's only -7 behind the next U 18 player is actually pretty impressive given the circumstances.

I guess my context of how I look at them is just a different than yours.

Canucks had a down year simply put. They weren’t alone.

My challenge is to the gloom & doom ppl…

Yes Marwood you can play along. On the ice what can be done?
Roster wise what do you want?
Firings will have to wait lol

Prediction? I’ll say playoff team.
No excuses just less bad luck.

On the ice I want something that doesn't put me to sleep, I don't think anything can be done and neither does Benning that's why he said he needs 2 more years, I don't see a lot of change coming for next year because of contracts, maybe Shaw plays a bigger role in coaching and they start playing a system they can make work.

Edit: The best thing is we'll be in the weakest division in the league and we'll get to see what Seattle can do.

The context of the entire development curve has changed the last couple of seasons for everyone. Even in normal years I think it's a good thing that people have differences in how they view things.

I like Raty earlier than most. But that probably gets skewered here if I suggest we take him at 9. I wouldn't be disappointed if it happened though.

I'd go with shorter skirts for the girls that scrape the snow off the ice......that's always popular.

As for the roster, there must be some MTA's that will magically make things better. Then it's the tricky part of adding new players without disrupting chemistry vs keeping the same players and expecting better results.

In reality, for the most part i'd stay the course. There might be a few bargains out there but they probably won't be apparent until later in FA. The real win this year is moving on from bad deals. I wouldn't be in a hurry to add more to the pile.

Yeah let's wait and see what we have and what need is the most urgent.

I can already tell you we're going to need D that can actually defend. The good news is they're usually not that expensive in the offseason. They're bloody expensive at the deadline however.

I find most successful teams in sports use the 2nd/3rd waves of FA to round out their teams.

They'll also need to sign someone to replace Sutter but any FA contract they sign should expire the same time as all the other poopty contracts.

Perfetti was last year lol
On Raty what are you seeing on why we should pick him?

Agreed, no need for anything long term unless there's an absolute bargain out there.

Defend is the major need. Depth is not good enough overall.

Marwood's cranky....I don't blame him.

Aside from having a sore back he's been watching the same poopty team for the most part for 50 years. Some are eternally optimistic, others aren't.

He's been pretty consistent with his messaging, even it you don't like hearing it.

I don't remember signing a waiver when I joined that said I had to love everything the team did. It's funny, we laugh at the Leafs because their fans support the team regardless of every poopty move they make. Then, we turn around and ask Canucks fans to do the same.
