Marwood's cranky....I don't blame him.

Aside from having a sore back he's been watching the same poopty team for the most part for 50 years. Some are eternally optimistic, others aren't.

He's been pretty consistent with his messaging, even it you don't like hearing it.

I don't remember signing a waiver when I joined that said I had to love everything the team did. It's funny, we laugh at the Leafs because their fans support the team regardless of every poopty move they make. Then, we turn around and ask Canucks fans to do the same.

I get all of that but why go through life getting cranky about a team in a sport. Just don’t see the point. It’s supposed to be fun & not everything is gloomy there is good & not all is poopty for 50 years unless a cup is everything. As for optimism it’s with a grain of salt with next season being a fresh start.

Any convo suggestions are good.
Perfetti was last year lol
On Raty what are you seeing on why we should pick him?

- Nighthawk

Sorry my error on Perfetti. Still like the kid but got a bit mixed up having 3 conversations going on my phone at once.

Raty I've only seen internationally and he seems to be very sound with his positioning. Has the brains of a decent Centre. Good release, nice size, good on the draws and feisty.

Fits as a 3C type. His offense has gone south is the big knock.

Canucks had a down year simply put. They weren’t alone.

My challenge is to the gloom & doom ppl…

Yes Marwood you can play along. On the ice what can be done?
Roster wise what do you want?
Firings will have to wait lol

Prediction? I’ll say playoff team.
No excuses just less bad luck.

that's asking a lot of someone who doesn't have an original thought in his entire arsenal.

The context of the entire development curve has changed the last couple of seasons for everyone. Even in normal years I think it's a good thing that people have differences in how they view things.

I like Raty earlier than most. But that probably gets skewered here if I suggest we take him at 9. I wouldn't be disappointed if it happened though.

I saw your response to Nighty.

I have him at 16

I'm not sure the offence is the problem. I think it's his IQ. I think he gets by right now on more natural athletic ability. Which there is a lot off. Save guards his lack of IQ by being more casual play.

Yup.
And before I'm asked, the solution is to replace the GM (and the entire pro scouting dept.) and the coach.

- Marwood

Right on cue... "playing the hits"

Like the Stones - havent had an original tune in 20-25 years. Stay in your lane, and give your fans exactly what they expect.

Maybe it's a dose of reality? Lowering expectations so that the crash isn't as big?

I mean we had people calling us a playoff team 3, 4, 5 years ago when we'd start out hot in October......calling out others for saying the team wasn't good.

Let's get something straight. Nobody, and I mean nobody comes and posts on this hockey forum without being a real fan. You actually have to be doing some fairly decent hockey searches to even find this place. (or at least you used to)

I remember when Marwood was pretty excited about the team, and others weren't. It doesn't mean any of them are trolls or not, it just means they have different expectations at different times.

Let me ask you a legit question. Is Marwood all that wrong considering the success of the team in the past 6+ years? Is he supposed to shower everyone with glee in order to stay positive? I personally don't think so, call a spade a spade.

Could be an injury. Stat wise the drop is pretty drastic. There has to be something that made it fall off. I haven't seen him in the Liiga against men. But whatever, he's always caught my eye when I've watched him with Finland.

I'm cautiously optimistic this year with Shaw getting added to the staff for the team to improve, but until the results actually start to coming in, this team has been very bad aside from one run (built on the back of head-standing goaltending) in JBs term as GM.

I'm more optimistic heading into this year than I have been for awhile because we're set to rid ourselves of some horrible contracts. I'm also apprehensive because the same GM that handed out those horrible deals is still in charge and has also handed out questionable deals since.

I just find it hilarious that now we need to be patient after firing our best coach in history, running our best goalie out of town, and wanting to trade our best scorers well before they hit their prime.

Yeah, no boner.

I just don't see why he's a magnet for hate because he doesn't like what's transpired over the past 7 years.

I have Pinelli at 12. I'm higher on him than most. I am not even sure I would want him at 9oa.

Even in my rankings, there is about 7 players that I feel are worthy of 9oa. Not even those top 7. After top 7 gap till about 11th where I would start drafting the players again. Let other teams draft whoever between 8-10 and get the best of what's there at 11 or later

1. Owen Power LHD
2. Matthew Beniers C
3. Dylan Guenther W
4. Kent Johnson W
5. William Eklund W
6. Luke Hughes LHD
7. Brandt Clarke RHD
8. Cole Sillinger C
9. Simon Edvinsson LHD
10. Jesper Wallstadt G
11. Corson Ceulemans RHD
12. Fransesco Pinelli C
13. Carson Lambos LHD
14. Mason McTavish C
15. Brennan Othmann W
16. Aatu Raty C
17. Fabian Lysell W
18. Wyatt Johnston C
19. Nikita Chibrikov W
20. Xavier Bourgault W
21. Isak Rosen W
22. Fedor Svechkov C
23. Stanislav Svozil LHD
24. Sebastian Cossa G
25. Chaz Lucius C

My rankings, poorly put together one day. Attempting to remove my own bias.

I don't think he should slip out of the first round. He is still someone who can create a career that is worthy of around a 20oa pick.

MTL certainly lacks the high end skill of TB as does 90% of the league
